  1. yes that is exactly it, i check both, restart the PC then its like nothing ever happened
  2. i'm sorry what does that even mean? I'm not the most tech savvy person.
  3. Alright I'm trying to play gran theft auto 3 on my new windows 10 PC but I'm having some issues. The game refuses to boot saying it requires Direct x 8.1. if im not mistaken windows 10 should come with direct X 12. So i find out i need to turn on Lagacy Components in windows features in order to get it to run. For some reason when ever i let the PC restart after it requests it, it becomes unchecked and the game still doesn't find direct x. is there anyway to keep it enabled?
  4. You're right. i got a passive port and now all 4 are up. Thank you so much!
  5. Are you sure? I had a similar problem with the old computer and someone told me i can use whatever for the first 2, then anymore than that required displayports. I can just buy a passive cable and it will work? (they're usually cheaper)
  6. So I just recently got a new PC. I'm in the final phase of everything being set up but now i ran into a minor issue. So Im trying to get the GTX to run across 4 screens. the GTX 1060 has 5 ports, 3 displayports, 1 DVI, and and HDMI out I have one cable thats active display, one for hdmi and one for DVI To make all 4 Tvs work do i need another active cable or a passive one? i just wanna know which one i should order in the mail.
  7. at one point we did and its still having this issue. i just restarted the pc now and it keeps taking me to automatic repair again.
  8. So i bought a PC off my friend recently. its this exact model right here https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-omen-by-hp-desktop-intel-core-i5-8gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1060-1tb-hard-drive-brushed-aluminum/5759916.p?skuId=5759916 He bought it just last November new out of the box so its only about 4 months old. My problem is that it seems to crash nearly every other time i boot it up. I get one of two messages, its either. " Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart you." or "Automatic Repair! Your pc did not start correctly" and then i have to choose to use a restore point or something. Then when it finally restarts i find that pretty much everything i recently install is gone and stuff that i deleted is returned. this has happened about 3 times in the last day or so. it mainly happens when i restart the pc, its slightly less likely to happen if i just shut it down but i don't see why that makes a difference. And with it being a pc, im going to have to restart the pc at some point. Basically i just want to stop this from happening. I'm tired of having to keep reinstalling things on this nearly 1 grand PC. Windows 7 didn't give me this much of a headache thats for sure.
  9. I was planning on buying a New PC that contains a gtx 1060, do you think that would be able to handle this task better?
  10. is there any that you could recommend? is it even possible to do if theres only one display port on the card?
  11. I could really use some help. So i'm trying to create a workstation/gaming setup for my room. Ive got a total of 4 screens. 3 together and a 42 inch off to the right. Im trying to get my Radeon r9 270x to make use of them all at the same time so if i don't feel like sitting at the computer i can just hop over to the other side of the room and watch things on the bigger screen or game etc. I read that it was able to handle up to 4 screens at once. the set up for the ports is 1 DVI to HDMI wire > HDMI in 2 DVI to HDMI wire > HDMI in 3 Active display port to HDMI adapter > HDMI in 4 HDMI out > HDMI in It works fine with 3 monitors, and all of the ports are obviously built into the card itself to handle 4 screens. it will detect the 4th Tv, but when i click apply to extend the desktop, it just keeps saying unable to save display settings. Im trying to have all of them as extended desktops. if i disable one screen and enable another then i can get the other screen to work but id like all 4 at the same time. So to sum it all up, what could i be doing wrong? Specs: Radeon r9 270X 8gb ram Amd phenom II x4 940 Windows 7
