A processor with more energy-effecient use of core handling is new to the market, but perhaps the 7950X3D was built to provide phased support of California's earlier crackdown, which blocked the ship of energy-hungry PCs.   Fact is AMD probably didn't expect some of their reviewers to receive a defective chip, but plans rarely survive contact with reality.

Getting those kitty stickers off the wall after a few years sounds a lot like "famous last words" - therefore, might I suggest an alternative solution for the kids' rooms. Yvonne designed a series of interior spaces for LMG that included some backlighting, and I was thinking something similar could be done here.
 
I propose the LMG workshop laser cut moderately-sized pieces of wood into mural cutouts, which can be attached to the wall on pegboard mounts. These pieces can be modular, to act as physical storytelling, and Yvonne could detail them using UV paint... in turn, they would be visible in the daytime whilst illuminate at night. If you ever moved again you could, then, simply take them with you.

To be perfectly honest, I'd feel more comfortable with SteamOS further developed into a full interface, versus a Windows port.
 
Microsoft may develop and sell their own consoles and tablets, but I doubt they understand how to implement it on handhelds like Steam Deck that are, essentially, a hybrid of those two concepts. I also don't see them wanting to make one.

At least we don't see the laptop hit the deck. That's a good sign.   Designing your own chassis is something I didn't know was on offer, so I definitely want to explore that (or see it explored by LTT as a swatch pack).  As to the CPU being soldered, does that mean you could buy the next MB with a newer chip if you wanna upgrade?   I would like to see more expansion cards. You could probably have two USB Type-A/Type-C ports.  I think a full SD might be more advantageous, since anyone with MicroSD/TF could simply slot that into an adapter, and then into the drive.  A Compact Flash expansion (if small enough), SIM expansion, or even a PCI-E expansion would be interesting as well...   I also still want to see at least a 15in variant. 17in may be something they don't wish to pursue, due to the hassle of size.  But a 15in is still a decent compromise if they can support larger GPUs and storage.

When Framework told me they were making a completely repairable laptop I assumed it would be a flimsy chonker... I've never been so happy to be wrong.

I have been interested in modular solutions for some time, with projects from comanies like Kano, but these have been limited in assembly and customisation.  Since I started my own social enterprise, I have followed suit in developing modular products. It is only 13.5" for now, and only available in some countries, but this is expected for a first product, and offers a good idea of what we can expect in the future.

I was very surprised they had this model Quantum Dot at 144Hz, but their larger 48" model instead uses OLED at 120Hz.
 
They could've easily offered both with QD, just with size being the difference.

I have to call James out on this - you WILL need a mask, goggles and gloves when handling Rockwool.  Users should also wash their clothes thoroughly, to prevent its dust from causing skin and eye irritation.
 
Whilst "not as harmful" as asbestos, it still has tiny fibres and dust that can cause problems if breathed in, so should be kept away from children and animals when being worked with.

The UK Government has begun actively proposing a motion to ban scalping and the use of bots, to purchase gaming and console equipment.  The news comes mere days after Discord server Express Notify discovered a loophole in infrastructure on the Argos website, enabling users to grab thousands of Playstation 5 consoles before stock was even disclosed to customers by email.
 
Amazon UK and John Lewis suffered technical issues for several hours, through 24th to 26th January when stock became avaialble, causing frequent failures to their storefront and mobile apps.  Currys reported similar problems, where 160,000 users attempted to secure their limted supply, which were sold out in just over an hour. Other UK retailer GAME, meanwhile, have been blocking any accounts on Twitter who report suspected scalpers, opposed to investigating complaints.
 
The ban has gained support after a motion was proposed by the Scottish Parliament mid-Dec 2020, when a recent study indicated a collective $58 Million on console sales came from scalped purchases ($34 Million for PS5, estimated $23 Million for Xbox Series X | S consoles).  Scottish National Party MP Douglas Chapman spoke to BBC Radio 4, after he outlined the motion in the Scottish Parliament:

On a personal note, the ban should be extended across ALL items in the UK, given an estimated £15 Million was spent in scalping protective equipment against COVID-19, depriving adversely effected people who actually needed it.

A big topic in the UK recently has been how those with disabilities (such as those needing to lip-read or mental disorders) are exempt from wearing face masks.  Since many of these conditions are invisible to everyone else, this has led to multiple incidents where they are very publicly abused verbally for this exemption.  During the extended video of this report today from the BBC, another incident caught my eye.
 
A family covered in the report has a 10-year old child with Sensory Processing Disorder, which means if they have anything hooked over their ears or face, they become exremely distressed.  Per the Covid guidelines, all children under 11 are exempt from wearing face masks.  As you can imagine, however, members of Apple have been challenging this - they banned the child from entering a store because he wasn't wearing a face mask...
 
Whilst Apple's policy makers have stated they are complying with the UK Government's Covid guidelines, reports by other news outlets state all Apple Stores are still being told to employ a "no mask, no entry" rule.  Why can't Apple ever just do what they're told?!

I would strongly recommend you talk to 3DEVO, who make a filament recycling system.  Even when running a Print Farm, operations can fail and thus do not print objects correctly, leaving behind wasted materials.  3DEVO's ecosystem allows compatible plastics to be shredded and turned into pellets, ready for melting, extrusion and spooling as new reels of filament.  They also have a "dryer" that extracts moisture from the pellets to improve filament integrity...
 
We've been speaking to them ourselves to help lower the costs of filament when prototyping our products, and pieces that get damaged or broken so they can be reclaimed.  As I'm not sure if this counts as a business matter, I can either PM or email LTT our direct sales contact?

Great job guys! I never thought I'd see Prusa on LTT ... once this corona thing is over, do a video of Prusa factory tour where you see a farm of 3D printers printing parts for another 3D printers 🙂 
 
Regarding PETG sticking to smooth PEI sheets: Use window cleaner like Windex instead of IPA to clean sheet, it creates layer that's just enough to act as release agent. Or you can add a bit of talcum powder and polish it away with paper towel until no free powder if left on sheet. Works with other materials that weld to PEI surface too, like TPU.

I didn't quite believe Boot Sequence earlier tonight when he said "raytracing for audio", so I decided to search it on the Audiokinetic website. But it's true...
 
Turns out because certain acoustic waveforms (such as Spatial/Binaural Audio) when visualised are like 3d landscapes, they can be processed with raytracing algorithms the same way as graphical computations.
 

If you're looking for a nice RPi 3 compute board solution for general use I guess they are ok, but I do have a few gripes:
 
They claim that they've built an industry ready real time version of Raspbian. I highly doubt that since, after the home page, they make almost no mention of it. An industry ready real time OS takes 1000's of man hours of math, logic proofs, and testing. Good RTOS scheduling, interrupt handling, and OS interfaces make the OSes we are used to look like childs play. I can find only three references to an RT Raspbian kernal on Google. One is just being spun up on github, one is described by it's creator as
"a curiosity of mine", and the other claims on it's website that it should not be used in safety critical applications. Most likely RevolutionPi did not create an industry suitable RTOS.

For reference, this is what the landing page for a real, industry ready and proven real time OS looks like: Segger embOS. Notice that the very first thing you see is a list of standards that are met and certifications that it holds. More importantly, if you click on the "supported cores" link on the top of the page, you are greeted with a list of devices that the OS has actually been verified to be functionally correct on. And that is the thing about Real Time OSs: You are making a promise that certain things will happen exactly at certain times with a very specific latency, with such a high degree of accuracy and correctness that manufacturers can put human lives on the line where they are depending on the correct functioning of their software and the operating system that it runs on.
 
Beyond that, I couldn't find any actually useful datasheets on their website. Things like "it has x output pins" isn't useful information to an industrial engineer considering a device for factory automation. More than likely their actual target is normal RPi consumers, and they are using false claims of "industry readiness" to try to gain a leg up in the market.

I would tend to think that these devices are probably ok, if you don't intend to use them in any way that you wouldn't also consider a canonical RPi implementation for. If you need a general use board with both real time and application processing capabilities, I might suggest the BeagleBone Black. It has an ARM processor suitable for running a Linux or Android OS and handling a user or network interface, but it also has two microcontroller cores that are suitable for machine control. They additionally have an older PowerVR graphics chip, in case you need that functionality.
