  1. I restarted the CMOS, bought new RAM with slower speeds (corsair vengeance LPX 2400mhz and this was in the QVL list). now I'm getting irritated with this build and I think it's either my CPU or Motherboard is acting up. But I have a feeling it might not be the MOBO as it lights up my RGB fans and could be the CPU being dumb.
  2. GTX 1070. it came from my old rig and it knows it boots up.
  3. So I'm currently building a gaming system for my nephew, and mind you I've built/upgraded plenty of computers. But this was the first time I've ever encountered this situation, where the fans will work but the USB's and the HDMI isn't posting up. I bought him a used Ryzen 5 1400 from hardwareswap Reddit and a used AB350M-HDV from the same person, but I got him a new RAM from Frys (https://www.frys.com/product/9642653?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG). I'm confused to why this is happening since both RAM lights up and most Ryzen 5 CPU's are compatible with 3000mhz. could it be the cheap motherboard or could it be that my CPU is clapped? would clearing the CMOS help?
  4. he mainly plays Rainbow six siege, GTA, fortnight, division, and wild lands.
  5. ya i told him to buy a new CPU and all. but he ended up buying my fx 6300. because he didn't want to buy DDR4 RAM all that
  6. Bummer. But will playing 1440P at max settings help a bit with the bottle neck? since it'll put more stress on the GPU?
  7. so a friend of mine just bought a 1070, but he still has a fx-6300. i'm wondering if he was to OC it to 5 ghz. will he still experience a huge bottleneck or not? (and yes he's running 240 radiator to cool his cpu)
  8. i'm only stress testing it to see if i get any errors with my ram after enabling XMP
  9. yea, that's what i thought too. i'll just play a bit of games before trying to stress test it.
  10. this question may seem dumb, but is it safe to stress test a new CPU & RAM right away or should i give it a few hours of light use, before stress testing? i'm basically thinking of it like a brand new car where you have to 'break in' a certain miles until you can fully use the whole car's HP.
  11. that seems like a good amount of years to hold on to it. So I guess I'll look for a 4770k then
  12. how long do you think the 4770k will last? because I plan on staying with staying with that CPU for a while once I buy it.
  13. Sadly I don't. but I'll find a way to get some
  14. My current CPU is an AMD FX 6300 at a stable 4.2GHz. And currently, i'm searching for a new CPU because i know my current CPU will bottleneck any future GPUs if I plan on getting a new one, which is why I'm looking to get one. But anyways my plan was to get i7 7700k with a MOBO combo on eBay for around $300. I want to know if I should pull the trigger on that deal or if I should wait and find other options?
