  1. Noctura is meant to be good but the best results come from liquid metal... Although I'm going to repaste my alienware laptop and I'm not so keen on LM so will probably go for Noctura. I've used artic silver before and it's fine.
  2. What's the longevity / failure rate like on conventional sata ssds compared to the nvme pcie ones like the EVO 960/970? Does one last longer than the other? Sorry if the names are wrong!
  3. When did u buy? They've only got 12% on
  4. I normally play warframe, cod but am struggling now with lowering settings and res. I've got given a few games for my bday and can't run them! Especially wildlands which all my friends are playing! I can wait but I've been watching since black friday and if there is a big hardware jump I would rather wait but it seems to be all quiet. ... but just a bit of background. I'm in the UK... Coming from my current dell xps which is a 2670 with 8gb ddr3 and 540m graphics card! It's old so this should be a increase. I just upgraded the hard drive which was a 750gb 7200RPM to a ssd (sata) and was shocked at the speed! It's revived the laptop for my parents to use for general browsing but I'd want to get something that not just gets high frame rates but will keep me going for a while. If they put a 1070 in a xps I'd love it but I'm sure the thermals would be difficult to handle! I chose the alienware really because of the build quality (or so It seems) because I want a solid laptop. I know it's heavy too Btw.
  5. Hi everyone, just seen the dell 14% off deal for valentines day and considering buying the following deal 7700hq i7 gpu is 1070. screen is 4k. 8gb ram, 1tb 7200 HDD it comes to aroudn 1400 which is fine for my budget but is it worth waiting for the 8th gen equivalent of the 7700? I don't mind going to the 7820hk but I don't feel that comfortable repasting it. I saw another post on here saying no one should buy a 4 core processor in 2018! I saw a youtube benchmark test which found the 8550U beat it on single core performance which was concerning. I wont be doing video editing but more gaming and 4k films / vids
