Cooking in high heats generally kills the most severe of bacteria/diseases, I generally eat food I've dropped as long as it isn't a visibly disgusting condition, spore forming bacteria can adapt to resist high heat/cold and a few other conditions and that can make you seriously ill.

In order to fix an issue on medical equipment the government will not allow you to change it without paying them a large amount of money, this in turn encourages all medical equipment companies to bundle issues into a pool and make a bulk change months or perhaps even years later rather than fixing problems as they arise, again this is in medical equipment, very important medical equipment.

ESD is irrelevant, it is indeed highly regulated and thus strictly followed in the medical industry but realistically you could work on motherboards without ground so long as you aren't stupidly doing it on carpeting with socks on or similar nonsense.

Buying medical equipment in the US through a US company is more expensive than buying it abroad despite increased costs due to shipping and the necessity to follow international and said countries standards, it is unclear to me why this is but up to 50% price differences are a reality, granted it varies but it is still more or at least as expensive domestically.

We're in the electronics industry so we do get a load of stuff from RS/Farnell in general, hence the open account - we can order from them with one less layer of approvals than otherwise. There are not really other wide ranging component suppliers without going international. Basically to do anything else would have required me to get a new account set up with someone else, and it just isn't worth the hassle.

I used to do that, but getting repaid was more like a week or two. Now they changed the rules so this is essentially not allowed at all. They want people to use the business processes even if it means everything takes 10 times longer while we screw around with the (virtual) paperwork.

We do care, but business rules prevent us from doing something better, and like in any large organisation, changing that is not a battle most will want to fight.

My manager actually tells me to spend more on expenses while work travelling. If I have a meal, I just have a meal, decent but not extravagant. My amounts are being seen as too low compared to other departments who go more all out.

I don't know if it is still the case, but I always saw RS and Farnell as catering more to business sales. I felt so dirty, as recently I needed some SD cards at work. We have an open account with Farnell, and I ended up with small capacity, overpriced, slow SD cards. If I could buy with my own money, I could have got more capacity, faster cards from Amazon for half the price.

Can't compare engine oil to a PSU,unless you're implying people should change theirs out at least once a year. If the HX750 works for them for 8 years, they shouldn't be scare mongered into buying a new one. Thats the nice part about going with more than you need on a PSU,the less you're stressing it chances are it lasts longer.
The psu you posted pics was bound to blow up sometime as it had leaky chineseium caps in it.
I used a Corsair TX650 in several builds until the fan got noisy after 4 years, and RMA'ed it for an RM650,it never exploded either after 4 years. Also seems like you're implying like we should all go out and buy a $3,000 oscilloscope to test our power supplies for ripple? A PSU either works or it doesn't.

this is odd, Id look in the hardware direction for certain, but idk
But if I had to take one guess, Id say your motherboard is dieing, due to the oddity and the fact that you cannot shut it down with the power button, even if you hold it for 10 seconds.
Maybe a second guess would be PSU, maybe a low voltage situation, I know that can cause crazy non-sense to occur as well
Id say try a different psu first, if that doesnt fix it, then you might want to look into RMA on the motherboard.
I'm betting you got a defective part in here somewhere
