I Did change the thermal paste for new MX4. The old one was pretty dry.

I am buying/building computers for 15 years now and I never changed GPU tthermal paste, I guess because I was always upgrading GPU within 3-4 years
 
Now with the new crappy overpriced RTX serie I kept my 1070 so I guess I learned the lesson !

if you are being migrated to vdsl, fiber will not come in 6 months, no company would invest money if they plan to go ftth
 
if you cant have at least coaxial, hfc, i would move to another isp if there are options

clean gpu, replace thermal paste, there are videos showing how to do it

vdsl is pretty much the same as adsl, it skips one step in the process but remains being a pair of copper, which is really bad these days, weather, radio signals and distance from the isp central make it just a pita, is unstable by nature on recent years
 
coaxial or optical fiber is the only real options one has these days apart from 4g and future 5 g and hopefully whatever mr elon musk comes with hos low orbit internet satellites, but that is a couple years away

the problem with 4g is get a antenna near your house that is not being loaded, saturated with lots of other clients
 
if you can get that without a datacap, yes is doable for youtube, netflix and similar type of sites or contents
 
the problem is gaming, those 4g connections have unstable pings
 
a friend had to buy one of these 4g and some days ot does well others he hates the connection deeply, specially in the nights, when everybody is on their homes and use the service, the experience degrades badly on those moments

to prevent data corruption you should keep multiple copies of files

I think it's dead but damn if people don't still use it. 

I just upgraded from a 2200g to a 3600 today.  Temps were doing fine 35-38 C idle, 55-60 C under load.  Suddenly my computer shut off.  I let everything cool down, but the system wouldn't restart.  I was worried the new CPU was somehow fried, but remembered the same thing happened about a month ago before the upgrade.  That day was 105 F and there was a ozone smell coming from my power supply.  About 20 minutes later, I was able to restart it without problems.  Since the fans wouldn't turn today and the CPU debug light wasn't on, I decided my problem was the power supply (Cooler Master MasterWatt 550).  I picked up a Corsair CX 650M and after installation the computer stared right up.  I examine the old power supply through the vent holes (I know not to open it up) and saw one of the capacitors was blown open and bulging (The blue thing with black showing through the middle in the picture).

i would go for a r5 2600, a decent b450 motherboard from asus or msi and 16 gbs ddr4 3000, that old intel cpu is not a good idea
