  1. OH hell yea.. Ive kinda made the choice to stick under the 1000 euro mark. Ive looked at the lenovo y700, msi ge62, asus rog gl55, dell 7755. (dunno if numbers are all corect). Basicly Lenovo: shit happened in the past, not to be trusted... reports of failing motherboards Msi: Warranty void if removed sticker on back --> gotta install my 850 pro as soon as i recieve the laptop so fail.. Asus --> case meh, lots of negative reviews about screen quality etc.. Dell --> very badly configurable here in the Netherlands....quality meh Clevo --> better specs for lower price.. better case with good trackpad(dedicated mouse buttons :3) Easy to acces components, positive reviews = win
  2. I already have a wonderfull desktop tower at home with a i7-2600 and gtx 970. That desktop i use for gaming. The laptop i carry with me everyday for school (software engineer study) and work on at home as well(so its not seperated between 2 pc's). currently i have i5-4210U tho it feels kinda slow at times. Thats why i went looking for hq processors (With hyperythreading for simulator's etc..). The gpu is just for gaming/graphical work when at school or when i dont want to use the desktop. Gotta add to that that the shenker i listed is not exactly the same thing..screen etc is 1080p ips in my case and it costs me 966 euro. Its just the cpu/gpu and case that's the same
  3. I wasnt to fond of choosing hp in the first place when i was looking for a laptop. I kinda went with it since it had the best hardware for the price and had some nice reviews. Up until now i didnt had to much trouble with them, aside with the broadcom wifi chip which i replaced with a intel one. Ah wel i already have my eyes on a clevo N150RF (basicly this thing http://www.notebookcheck.net/Schenker-XMG-A516-Clevo-N150RF-Notebook-Review.159486.0.html).
  4. Thats what i guessed already. I already have my eyes on a new clevo laptop as new laptop..I was just wondering if people might know... Thanks for your awnsers.
  5. To clear things up a bit... im not really looking into repairing it myself. Im almost 100% sure its not driver related since ive tried both windows/bios and linux. Its more like i'm asking if people know if that part of the board or laptop motherboards in general are repairable for shops without replacing the mobo for them.
  6. Situation A while ago 2 of my usb 3.0 ports suddenly died on my laptop(hp pavilion p035nd, bought in summer 2014...warranty expired). After i had transfered some files via a usb stick, i plugged in my keyboard and mouse again. I noticed that the colors of the lights on my keyboard where wrong(red brighter than blue) and that my mouse kept connecting/disconnecting. After a reboot the ports did nothing anymore. I tested if power was still coming out of the ports but that wasnt the case (tested with phone). After that i tried to reinstall the drivers in windows 10, running the bios and see if the ports did something and lastly tried a live usb with fedora(linux) on it. Currently i suspect that something like the usb controller died on my motherboard since the single other port at the other side of my laptop(usb 2.0) still works, and both ports simultaniously died. My question Does anybody know if this is relatively easy to fix? Right now im already with the mindset to purchase a new laptop since im not waiting on a mobo replacement for ~300 euro's while the laptop costed 700 new. Other than that im not fond of the ~60 euro testing costs most companies charge for testing the laptop...so thats why im asking. If someone would reply, saying its easy or difficult to repair("cheap"/expensive) then i know for myself i wont have to send it in for repair and just order a new laptop.
  7. Hi, Im kinda in the same boat as the op. Only difference is, is that im looking between the k70,ducky shine 3, das model s Im reading here that the ducky isnt that great.. What other boards would you guys reccomend then? My budget for a mech bord will be around 150 euro's wich is the cost for a ducky shine 3 here. and a k70 is around 140 although im probably not getting that one anymore since its way to much gamer and less typist + no standart bottom row.
  8. Ah ok then, yea when i search for ducky vs k70 most of them are in favor of the ducky. Anyway im still gonna wait for the ducky rgb and see if that one is much more expensive and if it might change the price for the older ones.
  9. Alright then, well yea ive read it a couple of times of other people reviewing it. Also why go for a ducky in my case? Can you tell me why you think it would be better for me?
  10. Nope im not really spending 40 euro more for some flashy lights and colours that il set to 1 color after a week. Anyway atm im also heading more for ducky. 1 reason for that is that the keyboard is mainly for typing and some gaming and that i read here and there that the k70 is somewat meh for typing and more for gaming because of the elevated keys.. Anyway thx for your input.
  11. Got a lil question tho, atm im kinda heading more for the k70 just because i prefer the looks. After reading lots of reviews its clear that all the stock keycaps that come with theses boards are 'bad'. Ive never had any reason with all my keyboards to change the keycaps and now im wondering why people all wanna change the keycaps. Atm the only thing that holds me back for the k70 is the keycap quality. Is it really inevetable to swap out the caps or will they last me for years as well (ofc they will become less grainy/ textured). Cuz else i might as well go a for a das or a ducky altho im not really in the mood of spending another 35 euros on keycaps.
  12. The reds are the only ones available. The blues had that error which made the leds die alot so that one has been discontinued.. And how about the caps.. any wear down or are they just fine?
  13. Hello, Im looking for my first mech keyboard with the main purpose to replace my laptop keyboard for when im home. This laptop keyboard has very thin keys wich let me make alot of mistakes. After some reading i think the mx browns will fit my need between typing and gaming and making less noise then the blues. The main thing would be for typing code (programming). However i would like to be using it for gaming now and then as well. At first i spotted the Quickfire xt. Just a basic keyboard with good quality. However i would prefer to have leds in my keyboard for when it somewat darker. Atm im kinda afraid to spend some more on led keyboards as i read that the leds on alot of the mx keys die quick. If i do want a led however i would prefer the k70(2013 black with red led) or the ducky shine 3 as they seem to have quite some nice reviews. Problem with theses are however that the k70 doesnt have a standard keylayout wich makes key caps switching harder. And the ducky just looks plane for 140 euro's... So to sum things up a lil: * is it safe to go with leds? * are the keycaps fine on the k70 or is switching out really iminent(prefer not to switch)? For me the k70 stands on the first place just because it looks slicker then a bland keyboard + i prefer a wrist rest , if the leds die however and the keycaps fail the ducky has my choice, however ive read the the leds fail just as good on the ducky so wich makes me pick the qf xt again since then the ducky has nothing over the xt.. ( if you see my problem here ). Also when i google k70 vs ducky shine 3 lots of peeps say ducky so is it that much better? (Btw i live in the netherlands and the k70 is available on like 11 sites whereas the ducky is only availavle in white led on 3 sites) k70 costs = 140 euro k70 rgb = 180(wich is not worth it for me) ducky shine 3 = 150 euro qf xt = 80 euro thx in advance!
