Bsmith got a reaction from Sauron in [update2]Razer laptop prototypes stolen at CES

    Original post:
It looks like people actually stole prototypes from the razer CES booth this year,
this is a major issue regarding other possible cases of theft at CES,
although not much is known like what prototypes or when they where stolen.
Since they are speaking about 2 prototypes it's fair to assume that it is about project valerie and project ariana, which where to my knowledge the only protoypes showed off by razer this year, so it's either one of both that went missing or two of one project.   From Cnet, with thanks to @Kierax

it looks like it where two of the laptops that have been stolen, with a suspected worth of $25k, this sounds as a lot for 2 laptops, but let's not forget that this are prototypes/proof of concept devices, for the company that made them they are worth a lot more, but the value is probably based on the fact that they don't come rolling of a production line and mostly have been hand made or with special fabrication methods that are not available on a large scale.
let's hope that they catch the thief/thieves soon, some people just that it is "just" razer, but let's not forget that the result of this case can set a precedence for future thefts of other companies.

    Update2:

It looks like the prototypes have been seen on a chinese resale site, which confirms suspicions of earlier people,
from loveley WCCFtech, thanks to our darklord @Sauron but also a special mention to @MyEngGooest since he/she reported it before, but sadly with links that I cannot properly visit without a redirection to the wrong page.

    This is both good, but also bad news, the seller is probably known and can be identified, it's not a crappy marketing idea of razer;
but to get the prototypes bacl they first need to find him and get to Chinese authorities to cooperate in this witchhunt.

In countries like China and Hongkong there is a difference between stealing and copying, the idea of "intellectual property" does not exist there, idea's are free to be copied and improved. taking a physical object/device without permission however is indeed unthinkable there, not even the government does it when it comes down to taking houses from people, they have to leave willingly, otherwise building plans are adapted to the person not moving out and they build around that house.(that seriously happens every now and then)

If you have ever been part of any security related matter then you know it's not as easy as it sounds, people don't see 360 degrees and cant pay continuous attention to everything that moves on a busy showfloor, not even in front of a set of TV monitors.
would be a great idea, the organization(CES) would need to cooperate with it though.
mentioned before and by far the worst idea ever for marketing. things like this as "marketing" are more likely to backfire, besides what are they trying to sell here? their name? that's already widely known, just like their products.

    nice way solving that problem.
Your shot looks good, but the only problem I have is that there is no subject in it, everything is in focus, foreground, background, sky, clouds, horizon, but nothing to draw particular attention, so I would say 6/10, since I don't know what to look at.

If you're taking photos at a meeting, a corporate conference for example, that's one thing and you can move around taking photos of anyone you like with priority given to the key people.  Of course, you need to know how to take photos, good photos.  I've seen some conference organizers happy with people (their colleagues who participate in the conference/seminar/workshop) happy with photos that come from phones and point-n-shoot cameras.  Because the photos are not really a big deal for them.  Unless of course the attendees are people like President Obama or Queen Elizabeth.

But with events like weddings, on someone(s)'s very important day, the chances of messing things up are a lot higher.  The couple being married want's various types of photos to commemorate their wedding.
Photos during the ceremony when the couple are at the alter. When they walk down the aisle. When the bride has her dance with her father. The couple's first dance. Group photos with the couple's family and friends. But other photos they could ask for can include:
Wedding preparation photos, like the bride sitting at her dressing table looking at the mirror as she gets ready. The groom awaiting his bride. Photos of the couple that capture their joy, happiness and affection for each other, usually in outdoor locations like parks, lakes, beaches, vineyards, etc. Perhaps creative photos of their wedding rings, on books or invitation cards, near champagne glasses. And the photographer(s) has to capture all these photos while trying to avoid getting in the way of the couple, family members, guests, and making sure other people do not get in the way of the photographer(s) managing to capture the moment.  There have been countless times when a photographer is ready and waiting at the right spot to capture the moment and suddenly a guest jumps into the frame or uses their own camera/phone and fires off a flash that over exposes the photographer's shot.

An experienced photographer can teach a novice
things to do things to pack things not to do things to avoid where to go where to stand what to look for Another thing is ethics.  I know a lot of good photographers, talented amateurs who are good at producing fantastic photos.  Their work ethic as a photographer, if they want to become a pro, is horrible.  They don't understand why it's important to arrive at the venue early instead of at the exact hour an event is supposed to start.  They don't talk with potential clients beforehand about anything.  Some weddings don't allow the photographer to eat food served at the wedding reception, they have to pack their own food.  An experienced photographer would know to discuss with the couple if they can join in on the meal being served or should pack their own.

yes and whose fault is it that they have those high expectations? jokes like that just smack them back to earth, something everyone needs every now and then. if it would "damage" kids so badly then it might be a mental problem that comes into existence when they get raised or through their education. Kids do need protection and love, but protecting them from everything only makes them feel more important and special, then you end up with people that can't relate to each other and try to protect everyone that can't speak for themselves. owh wait...

yes and kids playing jokes on their parents is fine.
I mean come on kids aren't stupid, never saw things like funniest home videos? those kids from the 90's came out pretty fine I find(except the PC bs and the ones wanting to protect everyone against small stuff)
yes kids are fragile, but guess what? it also prepares them for life, life ain't fair and easy. life ain't always nice, surprises aren't always a nice thing, these parents are actually teaching their kids something, they learn and they toughen up, so what's wrong with a joke? Besides, these boxes have products, do you think they don't get them anyway after the video ended?

Hmm this is hard to rate for me, since I'm not really into this type of photography due to the usual high amount of photoshop used, judging by the smoothness of the skin I assume that also goes for this shot.
I like the overal shot, lightning and composition wise. However it feels quite soft, especially when looked at the full resolution the details of the model her clothing fall away rather quickly, along with a (for me) rather unpleasantly smooth skin(like mentioned before) I would rate it 6/10 though since it's pretty flawless in the regards of composition and lightning.

All these claims ultimately come from one source, which has not revealed any evidence, and so all these claims are band-wagon hearsay.

I see these reports as part of Biden's clumsy promise of USA retaliation for Russia making the USA look bad over, and over, and over.

The outgoing USA administration has just a month and some days to make good on their word.

The negative coverage of Aleppo rebels being defeated and Aleppo liberated is also a part of the same anti-Russia propaganda effort.

All anyone has to do to discover that there is a coordinated Western-media propaganda blitz happening right now over the defeat of the rebels in Syria, is google-search "meltdown of humanity," without even including "Syria," "Aleppo," or "Assad" in the search. Doing so will net a deluge of pages all featuring the same sensationalistic headline, and journalism spin about the liberation of Aleppo.

The coordinated propaganda "meltdown of humanity" headline is meant to put up a wall against people's ability to consider anything different.
Sadly, this is typical Western mainstream media.'
