Shoot I forgot the whole deal with Nvidia labeling Freesync as Gsync compatible...

Yeah whenever you see Gsync it usually refers to a proprietary module made by Nvidia inserted into the monitors.... Gsync COMPATIBLE essentially says that the freesync support on the monitor is soooooo good that the Nvidia overlords deemed it reasonable to bestow the Gsync compatible name. However, any freesync monitor should work reasonably with Nvidia cards.

RyzenDoctor got a reaction from silencer12 in Can a bad Motherboard cause erratic frametimes?
Different games are programmed in a different manner. Some rely on the CPU heavily for physics and AI, which doesn’t leave much headroom if things heat up in game leading to stutter.

its not a motherboard issue per se, but the interaction of your cpu, GPU, and software installed. Your motherboard for the most part serves as the wiring that holds everything together. If a wire is cut (broken trace or dead chip) nothing would work.

I think the only hung left to try is a more powerful/more recent cpu

Also, why not go for a 1440p 140 Hz panel instead of 1080p 240Hz?

I would have suggested replacing the three front RGB fans with non-RGB variants and use the extra budget to get 3600 MHz C16 RAM instead.

I own a CP UPS. The ones you listed also suffer from being simulated sine-wave. For the TV and Playstation, theyll be fine. For a PC itll depend on your PSU

RyzenDoctor got a reaction from Newblesse Obblige in Are these APC UPS good?
APC usually makes decent UPS devices. However, these two are two of the cheaper models out there and they utilize a stepped approximation to a sine wave rather than pulse wave modulation which may or may not play nicely with your power supply. Most other devices dont seem to care much.

Active PFC (Power Factor Correcting) in high end PSU's does not play well with these cheaper UPS.

given that it says Gsync COMPATIBLE not GSync, then it should work with AMD because in all truthfulness it is just a premium FreeSync (adaptive sync) monitor

That's what I thought. Every reported issue with Freesync monitors occurred when VRR was turned on. I'm not sure what's wrong with Nvidia's implementation but it seems like AMD (and Intel) had that figured out....

Also a quick note is that nvidia cards can only do freesync over displayport so if you try running a freesync monitor on a nvidia through HDMI you will be unable to enable variable refreshrate. Some monitors only do freesync over HDMI making them not unable to use variable refreshrate when paired with an nvidia.

I realize this was a joke, but I'll respond anyway.... the LTT Forum is funded by people who choose to donate monthly or one-time. That's been the case for years, well before Floatplane (the initial version of Floatplane used the forum's payment system with a different donation item). At the top of the site, you can click "More > Forum Subscriptions"

    Hi,

So I am running a 3950x under a DH-15S with a single fan and I peak at 69C under full load (folding for 16 hours on all cores). Is it worthwhile installing a second fan on the DH-15S or replacing the stock fan? I am using MX-4 from arctic cooling as a TIM, is it worthwhile going with thermal grizzly?

Yes I know 69C is perfectly fine, but I'm bored and wanted a fun little project that would be worthwhile to do.

Thoughts and prayers appreciated (Healthcare worker here - terrified of Covid)
