from what i heard and talk to a few engineers... its a bit better. but due to pc  case design and why they put it on the case panel side.
both the metal and the design. need to properly be re done.

been following the white paper on it. its already on design 3...
i really want to know how the hell it went so far.
i do think nvidia got stuck with already manf parts thru... also my guess pci sig did not take kindly to nvidia pointing out a out right dangerous design

That is a good point,  Linus complained about spending money to retest the cooler, but he spends lots of money on other things although sponsorships are usually involved on those videos.  The whole situation could've been easily avoided by doing a correct review, or sending back the cooler when they were asked to.

Probably not, but when you (Linus) were bitching about 500 dollars being too much of a cost to do the review properly, potentially losing 25k dollars minimum over it and the whole situation has to be at least some what of a gut puncher, spend 500 dollars or lose 25k dollars, seems like that should be an easy choice in hindsight since he obviously wouldn't have pictured the sub drop off happening lol

Linus mentioning it was for charity doesn't really matter, they sold it off without asking, and thinking its ok to sell off an item without asking for charity doesn't make it any better, I think that makes it worse because now the charity is involved.
Steve was fine to point at how Linus worded things, it isn't semantics when a company the size of LMG should be more careful of how they word things.
GN were the ones that brought up the issue, if they hadn't the I doubt Billet would even be getting paid for the cost of the water block because LMG tried to ignore them, and LMG is at fault here for not sending it back when Billet asked them to.
Steve isn't the one with an ego here, and no it's not digging up dirt, these were issues that were found in public videos. As for removing the monetization I think thats the correct thing to do as it removes any possibility of bias and avoids any issues with companies as sponsors getting upset because GN brought up issues that need to be addressed. Linus is the one with an ego and he's acting like the issues are personal ones, not with LMG as a company, he's doing corporate sounding PR here, with a positive spin and trying to make it funny to appeal to his audience.

Steve and GN have made plenty of mistakes, but this situation isn't one of them. You're just being a fanboy, which is sad. Maybe when you grow up you'll look back on this and realize what happened.

This is factually incorrect. Yeah the cooler was given to them for the review, and they expected LTT to either keep it to use properly later (shown by the emails in LTT's video) or give it back, neither of which happened. The "narrative" was truthful because Billet's steps were halted as they had to make a new prototype. Are you this unable to follow basic conversation?

No they don't but it would've been a nice thing to do if there was some mention of GN, though I find it a bit ironic that Linus thinks GN needed to contact him first, yet Linus still seems upset about this whole thing and refuses to even acknowledge GN of these issues, even if for just the Billet block and paying for it only after GN mentioned it.

It was already mentioned by someone else, but it was signed at the end of the message with "LS" Linus Sebastian.
A 25k loss doesn't really seem like much to a company like LMG, maybe the management of LMG thinks so though.
But I guess the LMG "brand" is them trying to be funny and put store plugs into their videos, what bothers me more though is the video is monetized, no need to monetize a video if its supposed to be an honest apology.

Wow, Linus doubled down on the LTT Store ad, IMO having some humor in the video is a bad thing when it should be a serious video addressing how they can improve, and IMO they plug the LTT store too much in videos.
Also its not a good look with them monetizing the video and bragging they're essentially getting a free one out of monetizing it.

Doing cringe humor is their brand identity, like DBrand's identity is being an asshole to people on the internet. LTT's corporate identity/personality is making jokes so ironically, even if the intention was to make the response less corporate, it just made it look more corporate.

This is what I took away as well, in addition to not redacting the cost like GN and Billet themselves did. I get the "community" aspect, but if Linus was real about no longer being emotional, he or they would have mentioned and apologized to GN directly as well. Clearly they're still mad about it, which is completely asinine.

I'm not surprised he tried to spin it into a positive response, or that he keeps saying it sucks for him, Linus seems to have a problem separating himself from the company, I think he needs a break and needs to let the new CEO do their job while letting other very talented people at LMG produce videos.
Also seeing people here say that LInus still did LTT store plugs and monetized the video seems really tone deaf and inappropriate as this should be a serious video.

    One word: inexperience.

She's young, and pretty green when it comes to workplace conflict (hell, I didn't even get the hang of handling conflicts confidently until I was mid-30s). Not only that, but - if what she said is true - she'd effectively been beaten down (emotionally) by people she'd looked up to for years. Not difficult to see how she'd end up in a state where a) she blamed herself, or b) she didn't feel she'd be able to see through any official complaint to the end without further compromising her mental health.

I'm not saying you're wrong, just that it's entirely understandable why she didn't.

I really hope LTT is willing to improve, I don't want to see them fail at all as LMG has many talented people, the people in charge just need to be willing to be accountable for mistakes. But I'll believe it when I see their actions as people have been asking LTT to do better for a long time.

Comparing this issue to someone killing themselves is a weird take, and rather insensitive IMO. The lengths people go to defending Linus doesn't surprise me though.
What GN wanted out of this is for LMG to realize their mistakes and improve content quality, also because LTT has a testing lab, if they want to seem like a professional company doing real testing then they need to make sure the tests are accurate as possible.
GN has been careful about criticizing LMG for a while now because of the fanbase that always defends Linus no matter what they do or what dumb take they have. The GN video needed to happen and its things people have been complaining about for years now. Even with the GN video and the recap with more info, people are still getting emotional and defending Linus while they to do damage control.
I find it interesting people think doing investigative journalism is somehow "milking". I guess watching informative videos that call out companies for their BS and anti-consumer tactics just isn't for you then.

They also seem to think a woman as young as her at the time has an endless supply of cash to initiate a legal battle against a 100 million dollar company

Even if everything she said is 100% correct and really happened chances are she would have lost that fight, all it would require is LTT to drag out the litigation long enough to run her funds dry to where she can no longer afford the fees meaning there is a 90% chance LTT would win by default just by having bigger pockets
