I am all for giving a company what it deserves, when they deserve it.  According to research 53% of people post negative reviews expecting a company to respond to them within a week and @Corsair Nick within a day of your post chimed in to try and help you, which is way better than the 63% of people that say the company never contacts them at all.  There was also research to suggest that only 1.5% of purchasers leave reviews which suggests that if that number is accurate that more than 1000 units have been sold through newegg.com with the vast majority creating no reaction at all.  Positive reviews are beginning to show up more but are still less likely to happen

You got a bad one like a few others did as well and that sucks, and I feel for you.  Imagine those that were outside of the return policy or warranty that had something go wrong.

I think people on this forum in general are pretty reasonable and are all apologizing for your problem, what would be good is if you would offer to help Corsair understand exactly how you would preferred them to handle the situation?

My problem is that in your title you claim to know about all of their refurb products by flatout saying not to buy them. If your title had been "My refurb H115i extreme failed after 1 week" it would have been fine.
To use your example, it's like you buying a used Mazda that then fails, and telling everyone not to buy used Mazdas. Which is, again, wrong. You have a sample size of 1, you had a dud. Don't extrapolate from 1 to all of them.

Haha, I do think it's a little unfair that you're getting a bit of a heavy handed ride from the community, but things do fail. Granted, I'd never buy an AIO refurbished just because of the nature of the product; perhaps it's a piece worth buying new every time?

I get the allure of buying refurbished stuff, it's cheaper. Same reason I buy used stuff almost exclusively when it comes to PC (aside from peripherals, I just find the hunt more exciting), but something you'll have to take into account is that you will get items that are broken/don't work. You just have to balance out if it's worth the savings or not.

Either way, thanks for the heads up! I'm sure at least a couple people will find it useful, even if it's them taking the time to do a little more research before making a purchase.

On the flip side, if you think they've only sold a couple hundred refurb units, it must be a pretty solid and reliable unit to begin with

There are failures for every product and those who receive one are more vocal in regards to reviews and forums. Plenty arrive defective before they can even be used. I doubt you would've made a post about your cooler if nothing went wrong.
What do you consider a high failure rate and what do you think the failure rate for your product is?
  6. Agree
Bajantechnician reacted to ch3w2oy in Don't buy refurb Corsair coolers
That could happen to a non refurbished product as well. You're drawing a conclusion far too quickly, and worse, your trying to negatively impact their company before taking the necessary steps to fix it.

Before taking to the internet, contact Corsair and see how they handle it. If they handle it poorly, then taking it a step further may be in order.

Also, buying a bunch of refurbished or open box items, this was bound to happen. You can't get upset because it's the first refurbished item you're having a problem with.

No company is perfect. I'm not sure i would buy Corsair refurbished as I've seen some bad reviews where they will just keep sending faulty products until your one year warranty is up.

Good luck and hopefully that isn't the case.

You have the monitor youve linked. Its high refresh. You can get a 2080 and saturate the framerate, which will get even better when youve switched to zen 2. or you can get a 2070 and get very playable rates and save some money.

My dream one would probably be the alienware one, but I'm trying to wait for a more affordable price since they are selling for over 1k GBP / EUR / USD in Ireland no matter which online shop I use I just cant find it for a decent price

Listing your specs would help a lot, such as what each item is and it's model number. Please watch a couple youtube videos for "building a pc," "building a pc guide for beginners" or "i've never built a pc before can someone hold my hand because i can't seem to find my manual that came with my motherboard that holds 85% of the answers for the questions I'm asking, even though i may or may not realize that most motherboards have digital copies on their website."

If that last search term doesn't yield any results, just stick to the first two.

These are lighting strips that plug into the RGB hub pictured below.

Why is this wire in a bag? Maybe show the entire wire?

All of these plug into the RGB hub that came with the case.

This is your RGB hub and it plugs into one of your motherboards 4-pin RGB headers. Refer to your manual or list you motherboards model so we can help you find it.

This is the wire for your power button on your case and it needs to go in the right location otherwise it will not work. You need to look inside your manual for you motherboard as it will tell you where and how it goes. List your motherboard if you cannot find it.

Those just look like molex adapters attached to another wire. How about taking them off and showing the wire without the adapter.

I could be wrong but those look like USB 2.0 adapters and need to be plugged into the USB 2.0 header on your motherboard, if your motherboard only has one you may need a splitter or you can just sacrifice a couple USB ports on your case. I can't really tell since I know nothing of what you're using.

This is the HD Audio for your cases microphone and headphone jacks. They plug into the audio header on your motherboard. Usually located at the bottom left of the board.

The big adapter is to be plugged in to one of the sata connectors on your power supply, probably for your RGB hub. The other wire looks like it could be an RGB extension or converting cable.

These go in the same header where the power button that I mentioned above go. these are also important and need to be done correctly. Please refer to your motherboard manual for directions.

This is a USB 3.0 adapter for your cases USB 3.0 ports and if you want them working you need to plug them into the only header on your motherboard that will accept it. If there's more than one, you get the pleasure of deciding which one you would like to use.

These also go where your power button wire goes. Refer to manual or most motherboard specs.

What do these wires go to? are they attached to the same thing?

All of these get plugged into the RGB hub I mentioned above ^^.

The last things I need to order are a Vega FE Waterblock/backplate, tubing, and fittings. This will be the first custom water-cooled system that I will have built. Please excuse the weird formatting, as this will be the first time I will be documenting a build.

    CASE:
I used to own a Corsair 760T, a rather spacious and well-designed case. However, it was quite large, as I tend to like cases that are "filled" so to say. My old system contained a 5820K and an E-ATX Asus Edition 10 Motherboard. For my new build, I've decided to turn to the opposite direction towards ITX. I picked the Shift X due to its overall design. Its physical shape and dual pane glass design are unlike anything else currently on the market. I must say, after unboxing a Corsair 760T and an NZXT S340, Phanteks does a very good job at packaging the Shift X.

    Case pictures:

    CPU/Mobo:
For the CPU, I needed something significantly more powerful than my 5820K. Ill eventually be rendering videos, as well as running multiple VMs. As for the motherboard, i figured that since i was spending so much, I might as well get the best of the best. A plus: the Asus Z390-I supports two m.2 slots, which I'm planning on populating

    CPU/Mobo pictures:

    GPU:
I'm planning on Hackintoshing this system when it's completed. Nvidia isn't officially supported by Apple, which causes some issues when one is trying to install OSX. As a result, I decided to pick up the most powerful (non-commercial) AMD GPU out there. The Vega FE with its glorious 16 gigabytes of HBM2 memory. Bottoms up to OSX compatibility!

    GPU pictures:

    STORAGE:
I'll be taking advantage of m.2 speeds when scrubbing through 4k footage. I've purchased a Synology NAS (yet to arrive) that I will be using as (a) photo/video dump/storage. Currently, I've received one of my two 970 EVO 2TB m.2 sticks. That's right. Ill being using two 2 Terabyte Samsung m.2 drives. I'll be putting a low profile m.2 heatsink on the drive on the rear of the motherboard.

    Storage photographs:

That does it for all the parts I have currently. Hopefully, I'll be able to get another update out in a couple of days when more parts arrive. I'm quite busy with school at the moment, as it's finals week. As a result, I may, but will probably not be able to update this over the weekday.

What I need from you guys: I'm still not sure about using 12mil vs 16mil acrylic tubing. I swung by Microcenter today and looked at sizings. 12mil looks extremely small, almost like a straw. Any suggestions/comments, in general, would be more than helpful
