  1. Hey @Mustiyo, I just happen to have found your post. Years too late but great work for doing your mod, congrats! And thanks for giving me props. Linus just posted a new video ("I'm shocked how well this worked" --> -DUWTteit-0) doing something similar with a Steam Deck. I refered in the comments, that we have done something like that a loooong time ago xD wish you all the best and until an other time. (I actually would love to try the mod on the PS5, but I don't have one yet, too overpriced at the moment)
  2. I have a 3770k running since years with a direct die cooling system (also with a big water-loop 40 liters reservoir --> mostly passive appart from one pump) I use liquid metal and have no issues. This year I will upgrade to a 3700x thought, and I'm not sure if I direct die cool the new cpu, maybe later after some years. Your issues really sounds like an uneven liquid metal layer or a pressure problem. I would advise to protect the components around the silicon with nail polish and then apply enough liquid metal on the silicon and the water block.
  3. I did the direct die cooling on a 3770k. Doing it wasn't so hard. I think the direct die guard is one of the more important parts you will need for it [I designed one for this purpose and 3d printed it ? ]. The temps improved quite a lot, even comparing it with liquid metal and IHS before the direct die cooling. Don't know if it is worth the work and risk though. For me it was.
  4. Late for the game here, but I don't think the risk is as high as people say it is. I wounder how many people actually tried it them self before commenting on it? Silicon is brittle, yes, but if you do it carefully it should be fine. If the waterblock on the cpu is attached correctly, no bumping of the case should do anything. Preparation is everything. Just take your time doing it.
  5. How is the dust-situation inside your PC? Is airflow still ok?
  6. I made a very easy mod by attaching a simple waterblock on top of the existing heatsink of the ps4. Now I just cool the heatsink with the waterblock and everything is very cool and very quiet. Naturaly I had to cut an opening at the right place of the case and I used thermal compound between the block and the heatsink...but other than that it is a very easy and inexpensive way to silence the ps4 and the cool thing is, it can still be used without any water as the inbuild fan and cooling system remain untouched (say if you lend the ps4 to a friend or similar) I could imagine that you could attache a common air cooled block (noctua nh-d15...) instead of a waterblock on top of the heatsink. I'm pretty sure this works the same way on the pro or the slim and hopefully on the 5 as well ?
  7. I would have suggested the same, had also several time this issue. About stability of the ram (B1 and B2) maybe you want to go a notch down with the speed e.g. frequency or timings. Wish you much success!!
