I sorted it ! It might console someone with the same problem, at some point.
I recieved my new memory today. I installed that (so I now have 4x8) and tried to boot the comp. Of course I got the same asus error 55 (memory not installed.) I then removed the cpu and looked for bent pins. Here I learned that the pins are on the motherboard and not the cpu (rookie facepalm.) However, I after much searching (you really have to get close in at the right angle to see it) I found one (1) pin that seemed a tiny bit out of place. I got pushed it carefully with a plastic ... thing. . scraper.. I got in my computer toolkit and it slid into place. Installed the cpu again and rebooted. I got a new error code, ide detect. I turned the comp off and made sure all the cables were in place. Didint really notice any differance, but it seemed to work. Comp boots, 32 Gb detected. It might run a little hotter actually, perhaps. I might reapply the thermal paste.
But yea. Memory not installed probelm (Asus Q-Code 55 ) = bent cpu pin in this case. . . sholders down, exhale.... drink beer...
