  1. I sorted it ! It might console someone with the same problem, at some point. I recieved my new memory today. I installed that (so I now have 4x8) and tried to boot the comp. Of course I got the same asus error 55 (memory not installed.) I then removed the cpu and looked for bent pins. Here I learned that the pins are on the motherboard and not the cpu (rookie facepalm.) However, I after much searching (you really have to get close in at the right angle to see it) I found one (1) pin that seemed a tiny bit out of place. I got pushed it carefully with a plastic ... thing. . scraper.. I got in my computer toolkit and it slid into place. Installed the cpu again and rebooted. I got a new error code, ide detect. I turned the comp off and made sure all the cables were in place. Didint really notice any differance, but it seemed to work. Comp boots, 32 Gb detected. It might run a little hotter actually, perhaps. I might reapply the thermal paste. But yea. Memory not installed probelm (Asus Q-Code 55 ) = bent cpu pin in this case. . . sholders down, exhale.... drink beer...
  2. Assassin/Serachja Ok, I'll give it another go tomorrow (too late now, I'll mess things up now). Put the right timings in and put it on... I dont know, start on 800. One more try.
  3. Thanks all. That was fast. FloRolf: Its just that I bought 16 gigs more to put in there (nono I dont need it... it was a heat of the moment thing) Also, I payed for the motherboard. The damnded thing should work. Assassin: Yes, I was meticulous. Carter: Well, I guess I'll have to contact them. I'll get more memory on monday. I'll wait until then.
  4. Hi, I recently built by first rig (in about 15 years at least) and I am completely new to this. So all help is appreciated. Specs: asus maximus vi extreme 4770k stock h100i Corsair Dominator Platinum 2x8 2400 (CMD16GX3M2A2400C10) etc. Since this is my first build i did a stupid thing (or a few.) To have plenty of space to the cpu cooler I put the two dimms furtherst away from it. ie B1 and B2, Not A2, B2 as suggested in the manual. Me bad. I didn't notice however any problem however. When I discovered my error, I changed to the A2 B2 setup. I got the 55 error. Memory not installed. Computer won't boot. So I tried all combinations. Cleared CMOS, etc and the conclusion is that A1 and A2 does not work. I can have one dimm (ram? memory stick? whats the right word here?) in B1 or in B2 or one in each B(1,2) But no combination with A1 nor A2 works. So, I found on another forum someone that had relesed pressure (or removed) the cooler and then the computer had booted. I tried this with no positive results. So my question is. Is my motherboard defective? Should I contact asus and ask for another one? Any suggestions? Thanks
