TassieTim got a reaction from Roll_Like_Rollo in Experiences with non-techies
does spending three hours cleaning out a mates pc after his idiot son spent a few weeks installing various "speedup your pc / safe browsing / free virus scanners / fix pc problems / faster downloading / play our free online games / registry cleaning tools / you don't need add blockers or popup blockers to enjoy the internet " crap count ?
one malwarebytes anti-malware scan only found 2071 things after cleaning out most of it first
this is why some kids deserve to be just playing on consoles

only hassle I've had with non techies over the years ,are a couple of people i worked with over the years asked my advice on getting a new pc , which i usually reply with "how much you want to spend on it ?" and "please don't go and buy something from the local computer store , i can build something better for less then what they will charge you "
one guy spent over 2 grand on a pc not that long ago , came with a WOOT 17" lcd 120gb hard drive core2 duo cpu using onboard graphics , few month later i put in a 1tb hd as his was full and better graphics card

TassieTim got a reaction from ozziestig in Custom or Pre-Built?
pre-built pc in my opinion tend to be over priced for what your getting in the box , this my be in my area not necessarily in yours ( Australia)
on of my friends was going to buy a new pc last year but he was looking at systems priced around $2k Aus , some of which didn't even have dedicated graphics cards for heavens sake ,
in the end i said if you want to spend $2k on it give me the money and I'll build you something way better then the pre-built pc for the same money, in the end i only spent around $800 for something better then what he was going to spend $2k on lol
