  2. I like the case the case the best! I also think LED light strips are pretty cool, but I've never justified the purchase.
  3. Found the WAN Show a while ago and have since watched every video you guys have produced! A million thanks for keeping the quality and DIY-feeliness up to par.
  4. I meant that I wanted to be able to expand my build in the future without worrying about power constraints. That's all that I meant. I wasn't worried about fan speeds or anything like that. Thank you for the G2 recommendation -- I will definitely be getting that. It's nice to know about the AiO options that I have. I will continue to research additional CPU cooling products.
  5. Limits on the height? It looked pretty "roomy" as far as mITX cases go in Linus' review video... Would the EVGA 780Ti w/ACX cooler fit in the 250D? Thanks again. Not necessarily 750W just because; I was just trying to play safe. I like the SuperNOVA. Would the 250D with Asus Z97I-PLUS, Corsair H100i Cooler, and EVGA SuperNOVA 750G2 be a little better for my fit? That pretty much satisfies every single one of my needs and my bomb cost only goes up about $20.
  6. Thank you for the motherboard selections. You've convinced me to switch, and I'll peruse through those cases. I've heard nice things about BitFenix. Why the CX 750W? Because I'm naive enough to believe that 750W = 750W no matter what, as long as the reviews aren't terrible. I'd be happy with anything that couldn't possibly choke up my 780 Ti if I decide to push it down the road. Ideas? Why the AiO cooler? I've used it before, on my first build. It kept things nice and cool, but I'm scared as #$!* of doing liquid cooling by hand and ruining a build.
  7. I was initially looking at mini ITX, but I couldn't find a motherboard that made me happy. I guess I'm a bad researcher, but I would love to go with mini ITX if you've got a case/motherboard combo recommendation. I am hoping for USB3 headers and 240mm rad space, though... That's where I've been hung up. I've been an Nvidia fanboy, I guess. That could work, if the compatibility is there for games and stability. Thank you, I'll definitely look into it! (And thanks for the tip.) The MSI Z97M looks awesome, but the PC Mate is full ATX and wouldn't fit in my case of choice. Thanks!
  8. Thanks for the suggestion, CoolBeans. Is there a need for 850 Watts? I thought that 750 was overkill. Upgrading that and getting two 290's would up my budget by quite a bit. Is Crossfire ubiquitous to the point that all games support it? I was liking the 780Ti for the single-GPU power that it can provide. Thanks LawrenceBarnes! What case would you recommend with 240mm rad support, removable dust filters, a window (preferably), and the ability to completely remove HDD mounts and just use a single SSD? I'm all ears (but picky on those things)!
  9. So, I'm attempting my second build and hoping to use a smaller form factor, but still run an optimum gaming setup. Here's what I have now: CASE: Fractal Design Arc Mini R2 (Amazon Link) PSU: Corsair CX750 Builder Series (750W, 80 PLUS Bronze) (Amazon Link) MOBO: ASUS Micro-ATX Z97M-PLUS (Amazon Link) CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K (Amazon Link) CPU COOLER: Corsair Hydro H105 (Amazon Link) GPU: EVGA GeForce 780 Ti Superclocked w/ACX Cooler (Amazon Link) RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 2x8GB DDR3 2400MHz, Red (Amazon Link) SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 1TB 2.5" SATA3 (Amazon Link) Amazon bomb cost: ~$2,050 I have three major questions: Is there a better motherboard? I can't seem to find very many mATX with the 1150 z97 layout. All I need is one x16 slot and USB3 headers, but I was kind of hoping for built-in Wi-Fi... Can I find a faster SSD? I noticed that the mobo has an M.2 port... What would you suggest for the fastest possible SSD setup at around 1TB? Will I be able to correctly utilize the 2400MHz RAM on this motherboard? The descriptions on both Amazon and Asus's website left me confused. Thanks in advance! I'm open to suggestions and advice, so long as I don't have to sacrifice FPS! ------ Edit: Thanks to everyone who responded with very helpful info. Here's my final build, squeezing down to the mITX form factor: CASE: Corsair 250D Mini ITX Case (Amazon Link) PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 750G2 (Amazon Link) MOBO: Asus Z97I-PLUS (Amazon Link) CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K (Amazon Link) CPU COOLER: Corsair Hydro H100i AiO (Amazon Link) GPU: EVGA GeForce 780Ti w/ACX Cooler (Amazon Link) RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 2x8GB DDR3 2400MHz, Red (Amazon Link) SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 1TB 2.5" SATA3 (Amazon Link) Amazon bomb cost: ~$2,065. Thanks again everyone. For about $15, I think I'm ending up with a better form factor, built-in Wi-Fi & Bluetooth, a smaller case, and just as much computing power.
  10. My favorite part is the optional wireless charging! I want all my devices to work with the same pad, and my iPhone 5 sticks out. I think I'm ready to come to the dark... er, light side? Either way, I'm ready for some Android and this would be a great way to get started. I really appreciate all the reviews, Linus!!
  11. So, just in case anyone looks at this, I should probably do a follow-up. After installing a friend's CPU (which worked), I re-installed mine with extra care and it works. Perfectly. I definitely won't be touching this setup until I perform an upgrade, but something about my build the first dozen times just didn't cut it! Thanks everyone who helped.
  12. I don't have another one. I live in rural Idaho and we really don't have much in the way of computer shops within 100 miles. I examined both the CPU and the mobo for signs of any defects (bent pins, scratches, dents, breaks) and could find none. Sorry that I'm working without much of an arsenal of tech at my disposal. I can potentially take the CPU to a friend's with an 1150 socket mobo and see if that works. Thanks
  13. When I start without a CPU in, then yes, it does. Everything functions as expected (of course, the mobo gives a 00 error in the POST LED). However, as soon as I plug the CPU in, it does not spin up at all. I have removed the mobo from the case and attached everything in the box (in case something was shorting out) and nothing changed. Thanks
  14. I borrowed a 670 from my old rig and tried that this morning to no avail. I'm plum out of ideas, but I think that it's the motherboard.
