  1. That's all I needed to know, thank you guys
  2. Thank you for your answer. A dedicated one could be nice. Would any work? Could you maybe link me an example of one?
  3. So I wanna buy the Bose QuietComfort 35 II Black and I do not know how to connect them to my desktop. I do not have a dedicated Bluetooth adapter (or receiver, no idea what's it called) in my pc. Should I install one inside my pc or is it easier to go with some kind of USB Bluetooth device? Would love to hear advise.
  4. I agree mostly with you here. Single player games are fine and steady at 70fps @1440p. But multiplayer games, especially like battle royale games nowadays are really just not stable for me. Lots of lag spikes and unstable framerate overall, at 1440p and 1080p. I'm also considering upgrading to a 144hz monitor later this year.
  5. Both of you are suggesting a z370/390 board, thank you for the advice. I will do some research to figure out which one + which CPU fits best in my setup.
  6. In the bios I can change CPU multiplier and voltage control. You're saying that this will not do anything? I'm guessing it's beyond my capabilities anyway. Thanks.
  7. I will consider that. You mean I 'cannot' OC on this motherboard? On the manufacturer's website, they even state that they have a certain software called 'easy tune' to overclock CPU and in the Bios I can adjust the CPU clock speed. How can I then confirm that this board will not OC my CPU?
  8. I would like to hear your opinion about how to fix my CPU bottleneck problem. My current setup: CPU Intel i5-6600K 3,50GHz Motherboard Gigabyte B150M-D3H RAM Crucial Ballistix 16GB DDR4-2400 GPU Gtx1080ti Storage 240GB SSD Crucial BX200 + 500GB SSD 850 EVO + 1TB HHD Sata III PSU Corsair 650 Watt Display(s) iiyama 2560x1440p, 70Hz, 27 inch The problem is that my CPU is bottlenecking my GPU and performance when playing games is pretty bad. My Cinebench R15 scores are: OpenGL 85.83 (99.6% Ref. Match) CPU (multi core) 529cb CPU (single core) 141cb MP Ratio 3.74x Max temperature: 55 Celcius or 132F Utilization: constant 100% so nothing wrong here My score of 529 seems to be a little below average for this processor (according to the interwebs). What do you think I should do? I can attempt to overclock my CPU. People who have overclocked this processor have posted Cinebench scores of 751 @ 4.5GHz. Or I can buy an entirely new CPU. I'm using a motherboard with 1151 socket so I am limited to 6th and 7th gen processors. All advise would be greatly appreciated
  9. I should restate my question: How is it possible that my friend has better performance at 1080p? My friend's setup: i5-7500 @ 3.4GHz + gtx1060 3gb = stable 50-70 fps at medium-high settings at 1080p with little to no lag spikes My setup: i5-6600k @ 3.5GHz + gtx1080ti, both not overclocked = unstable 40-100 fps at medium-high settings at 1440p with the exact same results at 1080p with very frequent lag spikes.
  10. Thank you for your clear explanation! I understand that I have to upgrade my CPU. But explain this to me: How can my friend who has a very similar cpu (I forget which one specifically, but around the same power, generation and amount of cores as mine), and a gtx 1060 3GB have such better results at 1080p? I've watched him play the same games as me and he has better, more stable fps at high settings than I have at low. Is the mismatch between my cpu and gpu slowing me down even further than his setup which is "worse" in each regard? Because if you were to look at each piece of hardware individually, all of my hardware would be considered faster.
  11. Can someone with some more experience please give me a proper answer? Instead of just pointing a finger at 1 of my pieces of hardware and writing one sentence about it? I'm sure that's not how this forum is meant to be used. Once more, the question: Keeping all factors constant (hardware), why doesn't lowering resolution (ingame) result in an increase in performance? Follow up question: Since changing ingame resolution does not seem to affect my fps (thoroughly tested), will a 1080p resolution monitor (currently using 1440p) increase my frames per minute?
  12. That still does not explain it. Even when lowering the resolution to 720 there is no difference in performance.
  13. Sure, but you do not answer my question. Why doesn't fps increase when lowering resolution? There should be a logical answer to this question.
  14. It is true that my cpu is not as powerfull as my gpu. But my question is: Shouldn't fps increase when lowering resolution when keeping the same hardware specs? Because this doesn't seem to be the case for me. I need more fps, so I am considering switching to a 1080p monitor, but I do not know if this will actually increase my fps since lowering resolution ingame doesn't do anything for me besides making the image more ugly. Specs: CPU Intel i5-6600K 3,50GHz GPU 1080ti Motherboard Gigabyte B150M-D3H RAM Crucial Ballistix 16GB DDR4-2400 Storage 240GB SSD Crucial BX200 + 500GB SSD 850 EVO + 1TB HHD Sata III PSU Corsair 650 Watt Display(s) iiyama 2560x1440p, 70Hz, 27 inch
  15. I have been playing at 1440p for a year now and performance wise it has been all over the place. Most games I can get stable around 70 fps but for some of the newer titles like the Anthem demo my fps is somewhere between 30 and 100 depending on the scene. Now my friend who has a way weaker pc in every hardware aspect can run this game stable at 50-60 fps at 1080p without noticeable drops which cause those nasty lag spikes which I suffer from. So I thought, why not lower the resolution to 1080p? The image might get a little blurry but the performance should increase, right? This is not the case for me at all. I have tested this in 4 games (witcher III, CoD4 Blackout, Dues Ex and the Anthem demo). Why doesn't the performance increase when the resolution gets lowered? Is it because my monitor's native resolution is 1440p? I would love to understand this!
  16. What he's asking is: If my monitor can only display a maximum of 60Hz, then why do I notice a difference between low-quality settings being smooth (100fps) vs ultra-quality settings being not smooth (70fps)? They are both being above 60fps so why is there a difference in feel if my monitor is only displaying 60hz/fps? I would like to know the answer aswell
  17. Playing mostly taxing games like COD 4 blackout, witcher III, gtaV and the likes I am always faced with the same issue. Namely: to choose between (1) v-sync enabled, no screen tearing but stutters and high input lag or (2) v-sync off, screen tearing heavily but no input lag. I have tested this extensively and this seems to be the case in most games. In fast games like COD4 Blackout I cannot stand the high input lag that comes with v-sync. But at the same time, I cannot stand the extreme screen tearing (sometimes 3 tears simultaneously) that occurs without v-sync. So I would like to ask your advice. What do you do to solve this issue? I have heard G-Sync monitors try to solve this issue. My question to you is: Do you have a g-sync monitor and does it actually work as good as advertised? Or is there still some input lag or screen tearing going on?
  18. I am willing to put in some hours, but I do not desire the maximum overclock, I would just like a save moderate overclock. And what about the power limit and fan curve? Is a power limit of 120% (maximum) save? And what would good temperatures be? Under 70 degrees?
  19. So I want to overclock my 1080ti to better perform but I do not want to spend hours and hours testing my card since I have no real experience overclocking. I have the AORUS 1080ti from Gigabyte and would like to know what save increases in MSI afterburner I can apply. I have no need for the absolute maximum performance, I am just looking for a save overclock. I would say that my system has decent temperatures. Other system specs are in my profile description below.
  20. Sorry for the late response. The tone I hear is much higher than those two on the Wikipedia page.
  21. My pc is pretty overkill for this game. Recommended specs are a GTX970 and I have sufficient ram (16GB).
  22. Hi guys, my GPU (1080ti) is under 50% load when playing the new COD pc beta. I need to tone down lots of settings to maintain a smooth 60fps. I do play at 2560x1440p, but then I wonder why my GPU is not performing at 100%. Is this because there are no official Nvidia GPU Drivers for this game yet?
  23. No I have not. I have no other hardware to connect it to but my computer. Note: when I turn off the volume of my PC, the electronic noise is still present, meaning it comes via the receiver?
  24. But my speakers do not use USB. My speakers are connected to the receiver via some old cables. The left colored things on the receiver: https://ibb.co/kCyOEp. Then the receiver goes to my PC via a mini-jack cable. One like this: https://www.allekabels.nl/jack-naar-tulp-kabel/6266/1507/jack-tulp-kabel.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4N6ah7e43QIVks13Ch007wQjEAQYASABEgKQcPD_BwE
