FabTheZen's Achievements

  1. I still have my ZOTAC GTX 260 in my pc... I need to upgrade, I know! Good to see ZOTAC back on track
  2. I've found LTT when I was looking for a review of the Carbide 300R. The funny thing is Linus didn't really make a review of that case! Then I kept finding him around youtube, as suggested videos and such. At first I found him a nice guy, but absolutely hated his earrings and didn't quite like his voice. Now I've come to the point that sometimes I think myself "hey, maybe I should wear the same earrings Linus have!" It's crazy how I'm fond with him, and Slick... oh man, don't even get me started on him. I LOVE THAT GUY. Congratulations from the deep of my heart, Linus Media Group! You made it, you're the big guys now!!!
  3. The thing I like most out of the phone is the CPU, I'm looking forward to trying a snapdragon 801, for now I'm stuck with my OMAP 4460 (GNex masterrace?) Since it's not something specific about the phone, I'm going to add that I like the back cover, looks really solid.
  4. I love the Snapdragon 801 in dat HTC phone, what a beast!
  5. Thank you! I'm glad to hear that, and thanks for your support! If I find it again around that price it will be mine
  6. Do you mean I have to be sure to touch metal parts often? I'm not building on a carpet. Do I ground properly by only touching metal often, no need for direct contact with the electrical ground?
  7. Well, my budget is around 500€, and a graphics card really is out of it, since i don't just want to buy an "OK" one... I'm talking an year to get the budget back up again I have big hangs from time to time, and I can see from the res monitor that the cpu gets 100% usage when the hangs happen, and while gaming the GPU gets used only at max 30% while the CPU struggles to get along! In web browsing, too, can't have more a youtube page not to lag in audio while browsing other pages, etc. In other words: I need the upgrade!! I think I'm going to buy another seagate 2tb drive, since I've already almost filled mine. The problem with going for an SSD instead of another HDD, apart from sheer dimensions, is that I would have to reinstall all the applications and games I've stacked up since 2009 for the SSD OS (the worst thing would be making sure all the savegames are going to be backed up etc.). What would you suggest to migrate from my HDD to an SSD installation of windows?
  8. Hello guys, as the title suggest, I'm going to upgrade my current PC with a newer CPU, and since it's that big of an upgrade, it needs to go with several other upgrades, meaning I'm changing 80% of my PC! I plan to finish the upgrade later, and buy a new GPU and case too, so to repurpose what I have now, when money come. For the first period I'll be using my GTX 260 core 216. CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K [186,52€ - 256 USD] RAM: Crucial Ballistix Tactical 2x4GB 1866C9 [62,46€ - 86 USD] Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87X-D3H [111,81€ - 153 USD] PSU: XFX Core Edition 650W [67,81€ - 93 USD] I know the PSU is a bit of an overkill, but I chose that one for a lack of alternatives in that price range for the quality. The purpose of this machine will be the standard "power user" scenario, but more on the gaming side. I'll overclock when I'll buy the cpu cooler (I'm waiting for the cryorig R1 to come in my country (Italy)), probably along with the GPU. I'm playing at 1080p standard refresh rate, but I could do with leaving the option to 120/144Hz 1080p. I'm also going to do work with it, for example programming and automated computations (Mathematica). As for the graphics card, I'll probably buy something with similar performance to the GTX 770, in the Maxwell gen. What do you think about it? Is the upgrade from the e6400 CPU going to impact anyway even without upgrading the GPU right now? Is it worth the money? Also, do you think any antistatic wrist strap is going to be ok? I've found one on ebay but there's no brand on it, and they seem all the same to me! Thanks for the patience of going through all this junk, I'll be very glad to hear your feedback!!
  9. Thank you, I've read the review (and watched the video-review), it seems it's an ok keyboard to buy for a mechanical first-timer, and offers just the features I need. That sounds great, for the price I'm paying it! Does anybody have any direct experience anyway?
  10. Hello guys, I decided I want a mechanical keyboard, and after searching (and testing) for a while I opted for MX Brown as the switches I want in my keyboard. Unfortunately the mechanical keyboards available here are extremely costly, so I chose to buy online. I found this keyboard, the Durandal G1N, for an amazingly cheap price compared to the others (around 110 USD). It looks good, has the features I want, and has the switches I want. It seems it's a bit underrated as a keyboard, maybe for its brand, but do you think of any reason I should not buy this keyboard? Could it be they have second-choice Cherry switches? Please share your knowledge on the subject, thank you!
  11. Thank you all for your replies! I think so too, in fact for overclocking capabilities I meant all the features a PSU needs to have, the most important being voltage reg.Do you have any knowledge about the cooler master V550 semi-modular (formerly known as V550S)? How is it compared to the XFX Core 650W?
  12. Hey guys! I'm upgrading my old Conroe-based PC to something more... modern! I'm going for an i5-4670k, along with a z87 motherboard and 2x4 1866C9 RAM sticks. The GPU will be a gtx 770, but for now I'll stick with my gtx 260. For the PSU, as the title says, I'm willing to buy an XFX unit. I've considered a lot of alternatives, but this one seems rather solid and cheap. Do you have other recommendation for a good OC performer at that price range? I live in Italy, and the price range I'm into is 70-90€. The XFX unit would cost me 75€, so if there's something more to invest in quality, I'm all in, but I'd like to know how well would I be with the XFX. Thanks for reading, see you 'round!
