  1. New cable arrived early this morning and swapping it in immediately solved the problem. Thinking back I think the old cable was a good 7 years old.. Friggin thing.
  2. Ive ordered a new one, should arrive in a couple days. Was just wondering if this could be due to something unrelated to the cable. Bit curious as to why CRU isn't working. Perhaps its not working due to the old DP cable?
  3. Hello, Ive just finished building a new system, and for some reason my HQ272PPB 27" 2k monitor will only display 1080p. Ive flashed the bios, got the latest drivers installed, all running from a B650 Tomahawk mobo with DP cables from GPU to monitor. I was hoping to set the resolution in AMD Adrenaline, but that isn't working "The custom resolution settings are not compatible with this display". I've also tried CRU which curiously had the resolution I wanted under detailed resolutions, but after restarting my PC it still doesn't appear in display options. I had no issue running 2k on my old system with an ancient GTX 1060 so bit of a head scratcher that this monster 6800 is struggling here. System specs: Windows 10 Pro M.2 main drive 32GB GDDR5 HQ272PPB Monitor AMD 6800 GPU AMD 7700X CPU MSI B650 Tomahawk WIFI mobo CX750W PSU
  4. Hello, Im looking to upgrade my venerable LGA 1155 system to one of these fancy new B450/Ryzen setups Ive been hearing so much about, but Im wondering which of my old components will be compatable with the new motherboard and processor. Ive got a budget of £200 for the upgrades but am not familiar with AMD products at all so some help choosing upgrade options would be extremely welcomed. I do some gaming (MB II: Bannerlord ftw), but primarily Im focused on 3D modelling and sculpting very high poly models, of which my current setup seems to be proper struggling with. Heres my current setup CPU Intel Core i5 3570 @ 3.40GHz 34 °C Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology RAM 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24) Motherboard Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. 5. Good to know we can rule out the PSU. Cheers for covering everything. Will thoroughly re-inspect the mobo. Performed an initial inspection which indicated standoffs are installed but could not verify this 100%. You would think they'd have sorted it out by now but nope close to a decade later (or longer?) still a pain in the ass Reassuring to know those who have attempted this are still operational after all these years. Thank you all for the assistance
  6. Hello again LTT community, A friend has been experiencing random crashes alongside the classic "Power supply surges detected.. ASUS Anti-Surge was triggered.." Operating System Windows 10 Home 64-bit CPU Intel Core i7 3770K @ 3.50GHz 61 °C Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology RAM 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 670MHz (9-9-9-24) Motherboard ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. Ill be turning it off via bios later this week. Anything I should be aware of when doing so? Also, is XFX reliable? Cheers, TsunamiOne
  7. It does not I'm afraid, things pretty old. Cheers for the heads up. Inexpensive + 4/5 stars. Thanks you! Aha, was wondering about this.
  8. Recently upgraded my gpu, sadly it dosnt come with any VGA or DVI slots so I can use my older secondary monitor. I was just going to buy a basic adapter, but apparently those weren't working for people. What type of adapter do I need?
  9. That would explain a few things.. Ill give it a shot, cheers Majestic.
  10. Thank you for looking into this Majestic. 11. Hello gents, I wonder if anyone can help, have a bit of an issue with XMP. Last night I installed a new set of ram but noticed my performance in Arma 3 and Substance Painter 2 had actually decreased significantly. My ram timings had defaulted to 9-9-9-24 / 1333 where as they are advertised @ 11-13-13-31 / 2400. Undaunted I set off to enabled XMP, which according to youtube would set my values to their correct levels. I restarted, went into bios, changed my memory profile to XMP, saved, restarted and... nothing. It wouldn't even boot. Concerned, I removed the mobo battery, waited about a minute, put it back in and started up again. Long story short, I would post/get into bios to disable XMP but could not get past the "Loading Operating System . . ." screen regardless until I installed a fresh copy of windows on a new HD. Obviously do not want a repeat of that amazing experience so how can I enable XMP or simply achieve the speeds I paid for without the PC committing seppuku on me? Cheers, TsunamiOne
