xriqn got a reaction from ASUS ROG in What is Linux most user friendly and secure version
I'd try Debian stable branch and install Wine to add compatibility for some Windows apps, note that not all Windows apps will work on it and some that work might not be perfect. But it's got plenty of Linux friendly, open source alternatives to choose from if the Windows versions don't work and you will find the resource usage of Debian to be second to none, it's really lightweight and will make your PC last for years to come, though your PC is Windows capable when you strip away all of Microsoft's bloated rubbish, heck I run a system with 4GB RAM and an i5 8250U on Windows 10 and with the right optimisations it runs flawlessly. Debian is also what Ubuntu is based upon so most if not all Ubuntu packages should play nicely.

xriqn got a reaction from arialfx in Need Help Choosing Parts for My New PC! Any Help Appreciated.
In my opinion I'd stick with what you have for now and hold out until PC part prices are back to normal. That would give you time to save up for a decent custom rig and you'd still be able to achieve a good gaming experience with your current rig until prices go back to normal. I know you really really want to upgrade but prices are up because of the shortage of chips, meaning you might not be able to get your desired computer spec right now anyway.

Go for a nice 850 Evo 500gb. Don't need a 1tb SSD unless you're only putting 1 drive in. Plenty say Samsung is overrated but they are the best for a reason: speed and reliability like no others. There are some other good SSDs out there though, maybe get something from crucial or teamgroup if you don't want to go Samsung.

I'd imagine so, they are designed to overclock after all. Dunno if it'd handle a ryzen 9 though, might want to do a bit of research on that.

Personally wouldn't bother investing in X570, just get yourself a nice cheap B450/X470 board. I have an ASRock B450M Pro4 and it's more than sufficient for me, there's a zen2 BIOS for it now too so maybe get something cheap alongside the 3600 like an Athlon 200GE just to update the bios then sell it. I'd imagine that you won't need to upgrade the bios though asmine came with the zen2 update preinstalled.

Not exactly old but this is the dell keyboard I have, only its a British model. I use it with my secondary PC (The Oldie) and I can't fault it. My school had all KB series keyboards.

xriqn reacted to NelizMastr in Xeon W-3175X (the "5GHz" 28 core) uses paste rather than solder
They'll have to price it at 2 grand or less to even make it competitive, so I highly doubt this 28 core will really steal that much of the 2990WX's thunder.

use the extra money saved from getting the 2600 to purchase a 1060 6gb or 3gb or a rx580 or rx570 depending how much the gpus cost

xriqn reacted to LinusTech in Intel 9th Gen Paid Benchmarks Take Advantage of NDA Periods
The really mind-blowing thing to me is that this ever made it as far as it did. Everyone I know at Intel is extremely cautious about mentioning competitors, let alone comparing to them...
And these results are so obviously incorrect that it's baffling that no one saw them at nay point and went "whoa whoa whoa!"
I dunno.
Meanwhile at LTT we are already testing the 9900k so stay tuned for becmhmarks you can trust courtesy of Anthony

I was born in early 2002, never personally used floppies, seen them used and I own a couple old mitsuki floppy drives. Hoping to get hold of a few floppies so I can make some classic windows 3.1 install media and stuff.
