  1. I have a dell optiplex 780 w 10 gb of ram and I want to use it as an emulation PC in my living room, unfortunately it seems the parts it has are failing to meet my hopes. I want to emulate IDEALLY PS3 back, but I'm currently struggling with Gamecube emulation via Dolphin, it only allows for one backend, direct3D 11, nothing else runs at all, except for none and none runs about as well as a small car trying to push a brick wall, while direct3D 11 runs usually visually pretty smooth, but the audio is crap and video has frequent slowdowns. what I'm asking for is advice on how to improve performance, what to tweak for optimal play, or what to upgrade within reasonable cost, seeing as the whole PC only cost me 20$
  2. I’m also looking at the other parts and I see amazon has an i5 that goes to 4.6ghz, would that fit? I5-9600KF on amazon
  3. I just did the measurements unfortunately that case is too tall for my entertainment center the dell fits perfectly sideways, the height is 6.5 inches by 18 inches deep and 23 inches wide, I don’t know how Amd processors work but my father has told me from the start that they are difficult because of drivers, can you please find a case that is within those dimensions that can still breathe with that kind of space?
  4. I can list off emulators/ apps I will use on the PC if it helps, I will post more as I remember them Dolphin(GC-Wii) SNES9X(SNES) RPCS3(PS3) ReDream(Dreamcast) LaunchBox/BigBox VisualBoyAdvance(GB/GBC/GBA) Project64Ultra(n64)
  5. I want to build a small form factor PC to fit IN my entertainment center I recently picked up an old dell Optiplex 780 and that’s about the size PC I’m looking to make, but it needs to be intel, with an nvidia graphics card, and capable of running emulation from PS3 back, preferably PS4 as well (futureproofing), my pockets aren’t bottomless but right now I just am looking for parts so I can build over time if it’s ridiculous, My main gaming PC is the baseline so i7 or better, gtx 1060 6gb or better, 16gb ddr4 ram(2x8)
  6. I bought a used Dell Optiplex 780 with 10 gigs of ram and a core 2 duo CPU that runs at 3.2 GHz and would like to upgrade it as an emulation PC for my living room, I already have launchbox installed as well as my favorite emulators and games from Nintendo Gamecube back, unfortunately this thing has no WiFi OR Bluetooth functionality at all, I'd like to use PS4 and xbox one controllers, my plan is also to run everything from IDEALLY PS3 and Xbox 360 back, but I can understand if those are too demanding for this setup, I have no graphics card, and only 2 USB 3.0 ports, I'm pretty sure this was already refurbished once, seeing it's specs and the difference in the age of the disk drive and other components. The entire PC only cost me 20$ USD, can someone please recommend supplies for upgrades that'd total 100$ at most with the PC price included
  7. I have an og oculus rift and have been using a widmovr lense adapter, does anyone know if there's a way to just remove the need for that at all, like an app I can run in the background or something with my prescription typed in?
  8. I eventually managed to fix the problem. I purchased a cheap powered usb hub and plugged everything related to the Oculus into that, it works properly now. Thanks for all the help
  9. New information, the problem only shows up when the entire oculus rift is plugged into the ports, I have 3 sensors and the headset, if I leave one sensor disconnected it runs but as soon as I put in a third sensor the USB ports all shut down for about a minute, then come back on for a few seconds, and so on until I unplug the third sensor
  10. No, all USB ports, including the ones on the motherboard, they are working for a few seconds then fail for a few minutes
  11. The motherboard USB ports are the ones that aren’t working
  12. I just got an Oculus Rift from a friend but while setting it up a book fell from my desk onto my PC and the USB ports are acting up and basically working then not working after startup. my motherboard is an MSI z170a pc mate, my cpu is an I7-6700,which is cooled by a Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 3. Do I need a new motherboard or something, please assist ASAP
  13. I am planning on buying an Oculus Rift from a friend and was thinking about hooking it up downstairs in the living room, only problem is my PC is upstairs in my room, any advice for getting it set up?
  14. I got Soundcore Liberty Lites from Anker, they work pretty well with my iphone SE, but I wish they had some of the special capabilities of more expensive earbuds
  15. I already ordered arctic silver 5, is there a problem with conductive ones even if I don't contact other components? can someone please explain
  16. I have a slim ps3 that I want to apply new thermal paste to because I haven't done so since it was bought back in 2012, any recommendations, please the thing smelled burnt when I started it up. I already took it apart and blew all dust out, so that shouldn't happen anymore but I'd like to prolong the systems life as long as possible since it was one of my last gifts from my grandmother before she passed away
  17. i blew the fan out a few times with an air duster, game now runs slightly better, though I seriously hope that bethesda and panic button continue to fix this, because this game is amazing and still goes high pricewise
  18. I recently picked up doom on the nintendo switch because i wanted to be able to play it at work on lunch break, but the framerate seems to hover between 15 and 20 fps or so, is my switch overheating in the dock? I already added a drop in cooling mod to the dock, the switch was bought used, so maybe it needs new thermal paste, if so, what do i go with?
  19. i have 3 disk readers and 2 SSDs and one platter hard drive, with a 112 GB SSD that is my current boot drive
  20. sata slows? like Raid won't work? because I don't use Raid array.
  21. the PC is used as an all rounder, videogames, emulators, streaming youtube, and media center, I want to try to preserve the sata slots for my game library, also I meant the 970, sorry about that
  22. I am trying to replace my boot drive as it is too small to update windows and would like to upgrade to a M.2 SSD, however I don't understand what is necessary in a boot drive for optimal performance, and was just gonna grab a samsung 960 pro, can someone help me find a cheaper option for this, I want at least 500 GB space for any apps and extras, and my motherboard is an MSI Z170a PC Mate
  23. I finished cleanup on the fan system and HDD bay on the PS3, but haven't tested it yet due to several power outages in my area today, here are the after pics, the right towel was not used, shows comparison
