Hello,
I'm in the market for a new PSU. My old one seems to be broken or at least a hazard ( SilentiumPC Deus M1 550, bought ~4.5 years ago). I got Windows code 43 disabling the GPU some time ago. After looking for possible causes GPU seemed fine, MOBO looks ok. That left PSU which I opened up today to take a look and there seems to be a capacitor that's swollen/burst under it's electrical tape like wrapping. I decided to play it safe, take it out and replace it. At least I'll already have a new PSU for an upgrade when/if GPU/RAM prices get a bit more manageable. I've got some idea as to what I should get but I figured I might ask to make sure just as well.
Current configuration:
CPU: i5-4670K
Cooler: Thermalright Macho rev B
MOBO: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming
GPU: GTX 770
2 SSD, 2 HDD, 3 case fans...
Looking to upgrade within the year to i7/ryzen 7, gtx1070/1080 or a consumer range volta when they come out. Will likely overclock CPU.
[edit for clarity: cpu upgrade to current gen including mobo]
The first post in "How many watts..." sticky suggests ~650W for the target setup. Reading further on it seems like the common consensus is that 550W would enough after all.
Looking through what's currently available in a couple stores here (Poland) I've tried to come up with a quick shortlist of decent 550W PSUs (with lowest pricing in Polish Zloty):
Corsair RM550x - 390 PLN
SeaSonic Focus+ Platinum - 459 PLN
SeaSonic PRIME Gold - 549 PLN
beQuiet Dark Power Pro 11 - 570 PLN
beQuiet Straight Power 11 - 429 PLN
The list ranges roughly around 95-135€. I don't necessarily have a set budget, could go a bit higher if there is a good reason to.
A lot of other decent PSUs I would have to order with a longer wait time. I'd rather not be without a PC for over a week.
So, which PSU should I get? Maybe there's another model I should really look into. Should I consider a 650W one after all?
