  1. Ah! Newb mistakes. OK I got it installed! I followed the step and steam updated but still stopped here: At this point, started over. Debain Software app wouldn't remove Steam. So I deleted it from applications folder. I used this https://linuxhint.com/fully-uninstall-steam-from-ubuntu/ uninstall steam. after starting over I got to here: Then this happened. Then I did this: sudo apt install libgl1-nvidia-glx:i386 And I was able to open it up and log in. YAY! Now let see if can play something and if my PC will still work after reboot :D
  2. I got the file form Steampowered and installed steam_latest.deb Seems like the entry for Steam in the Software list doesn't want to remove. even after running: sudo apt-get remove steam Thanks I'll check that link out.
  3. I downloaded direct from Steam website and used GDebi package installer. I followed the instruction on the link but guess I missed a step. Seems those dependence don't want auto install. I'll try again.
  4. Hey Folks, I installed STEAM on Debian 11. I can't start it because it needs to update dependencies. But also I can't run STEAM as ROOT either. I get messages from steam, saying it can't run as root user. Anyone else run into this issue before?
  5. I know I can't be the only one that's had this issue. Thinking was harmless I did a OS update from system settings and now the OS only loads to a paint then stops (see attached image). I started with Cinnamon GUI only. But have since installed GNOME GUI. I went through this tutorial: https://github.com/BeanGreen247/Debian_10_Proprietary_NVIDIA_Driver_Install_Guide To get a RTX 3070 working. I also installed Flat Pak https://flatpak.org/setup/Debian/ so could make use of this GPU utility GreenWithEnvy After I did a update from the system preferences the OS will not boot to the GUI. However, I can get the system up and running in command-line mode. I'm assuming I need to fully repeat the nvidia driver tutorial to get the OS to fully load up. Wanted to see if anyone has run into this issue. --------------------------- Debian 10.10 GUI is Cinnamon nVIDIA Drivers installed Volume group "WMTX1-vg" not found Cannot process volume group WMTX1-vg Volume group "WMTX1-vg" not found Cannot process volume group WMTX1-vg /dev/mapper/WMTX1--vg-root:recovering journal /dev/mapper/WMTX1--vg-root:clean, 339055/9674752 files, 3949209/ ---------------------------
