Thanks guys, guess its time for a system upgrade. Nothing else could be the problem so yeah. And changing it to 30hz and lower didnt do anything, still 1080 max. Actually in the radeon settings the horizontal timing total increased from 2200 to 2600 something(60Hz, 30Hz). I dont know what that means but I guess it just wont go further with the card. Thanks again now I can sleep

Connected via hdmi the maximum resolution im getting is 1080. Card is r9 290x , should have no problems with 4k. Ive read so many topics but none seem to help my situation. All is left is the cable? Not sure when i bought this one(several years back) but again ive read that even with older ones I should still be getting 4k. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you.
