Somewhat off topic, but in the third image the woman is framed in the Motherboard cut-out and it amused me

Sick build though, I'll be watching!

So for those of you who aren't on floatplane, here's the HP spectre showcase as seen there:

    Here's the video on yt:

The only thing that's the same is "HP elitebook showcase" and the thumbnail. The title on FP is much less clickbait-y. This makes sense. On FP, since members are paying for content, they're much more likely to watch everything LMG puts out. Additionally, there's no need to attract new members (at least through the videos themselves) since anyone seeing the videos on FP is already paying. Another useful addition on FP is the "Sponsored" tag which makes it easy to tell which videos might be a tad... biased. Here's the problem. It is really hard to tell which videos are which between FP and YT. There are some titles even more ambiguous:

They don't even have the same thumbnail, and I had to check they were the same video by actually playing it. As someone who consumes LMG content on both YouTube and Floatplane, I'd appreciate an easier way to compare videos on both.

This is pretty huge imo. I've never been a huge fan of game streaming, but I'm really interested to see how this will work, or if it'll have any sort of touch screen controls for point and click styled games or jrpgs/civ.

I've never really watched any movies on steam so can't comment on that yet.

Surround your PC with electric fence. Guaranteed to work, just don't forget to plug it in.

I'd go for a ryzen 5 1400 or 1600, the 1500x is kinda pointless. also I'd say bump your gpu up to a 1050ti or a 1060-3gb if your budget allows for it.

DrAwesome821 reacted to Top_Hat_Tomato in PIA hires man who 'lost' $473M from 'security flaw' as technology officer.
As of a few days ago, Mark Karpeles became the CTO of Private Internet Access, who was largely responsible for the downfall of Mt. Gox and is under investigation for various crimes such as theft and fraud.

This is quite the interesting scenario because PIA, a service that is supposed to improve the security and reassure their users that their data is secure, hired a person who either lost $473 million in user's money due to poor security, or stole $473 million in users money. Does the LinusTechTips community approve that this service is being partially influenced by someone who has had such a poor history?

While we should be wary and critical, we shouldn't sink the boat yet, so please be moderate in your discussion before we learn more.

Now to wait for the rant on the confusion soon to come on Intel X399 vs AMD X399...  Personally, I think that this is something AMD was counting on, but should be interesting to see if there is any legal issues from that.

DrAwesome821 reacted to NumLock21 in Intel 9th Gen Cannon Lake + Intel X399
There was a topic here a minute ago about it, and it seems to have disappeared...
Intel document shows there some interesting info about the upcoming Intel 9th generation processors, Cannon Lake. According to their white papers, Cannon Lakes is supported on all Intel 300 series chipsets, except for their Z370. This is unfair for those who owns a board with this chipset as they've paid a premium for it, Looks like Z370 is rushed out instead of taking its time to mature like the rest of their 300 series. On their HEDT platform, it will get both Coffee Lake-E and Cannon Lake-E.
