I was hoping to use one windows vm for all gameserver stuff and ai training stuff, i would also want to be able to move files off my phone, and my mobo has a type c usb port i was hoping to make use of, but yeah unraid seems the way to go.
-
So what would i do about the Server part? looking at linus' video on a gamingpc/nas, he said that none of the usbs on the motherboard would be hotswappable etc
-
My config: Ryzen 5 2600 ASUS TUF B450M-Pro 16GB Corsair 3000Mhz RAM HD 5670 GPU Corsair CX750W PSU 2x 500GB Kingston SSDs 2x 4TB Seagate NAS HDDs My Goal: I am going to University soon, and I would like to have a single box which can 1. Be my main file storage and 2. Be a 'server' which I can use to run game servers and do a bit of AI training so my pc is free to game etc. I would prefer to do this in windows. I would like to have 4TB of storage for my backups, photos, and Uni projects, obviously, I would like to use at least RAID 1, so one of my two hard drives can fail without me losing my data. I would also like to use the terabyte of SSDs as a cache so I can dump large files onto the NAS without having to wait for ages with my phone connected, for example. I have no idea how to do this. The problem I'm having is that I cannot find a good way in windows to do the NAS part, I was thinking of using unpaid and use a windows virtual machine for the server parts but then I think id lose most functionality of my motherboard (ports etc). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So Linus did that video where he made 2 gaming virtual pcs from the same system, which was really cool, but I was wondering if it would be possible to make a server style pc and have maybe 3 or 4 virtual gaming machines for all the kids in my house. Would this be something that's possible? Assuming each vm would get 4 cores and a certain amount of memory and a gpu each, would it be possible to use a server motherboard and CPU to make something like this?

Is that PBP/PIP feature on most monitors? Or just this one?
-
So the Samsung CHG90 is pretty cool, and the resolution is cool in games etc... but i would prefer to have two monitors, and play a game at normal 16:9 on one, and have some monitoring like MSI Afterburner and discord on the other. Would this be possible on a monitor with a resoltion of 3,840 x 1080? Because if i could get one monitor which replaces my two monitors, but allows me to treat it like two, just without the bezel, then it would be perfect for me.

Yeah I understand that, however I’ve just started watching a YouTube video, and whereas before my cpu would have been at about 20% usage, however now it’s at 80% and the video is buffering (not because of my network speed)

So I watched an old LTT video on overclocking, as I may upgrade to a i5-4790k, and got bored, so I decided to mess around with the bios of my i5-4460... which caused my CPU from being able to scale with whatever task I was doing, e.g reaching 3.4 GHz when gaming etc, but now when I pin it at 100% usage, it only goes to 3.2 GHz, any ideas on what the hell I’ve done? I didn’t change any major setting and only applied my memory to run at 1600 MHz. Before my Cinebench score was 465, and now it’s gone down to 444.

Motherboad is DQ57TM and i think there's either a problem with the motherboard or a problem with how im trying to install windows 7
-
Okay so update, i did a stupid and the motherboard doesnt support windows 8 or higher so i have to use windows 7, however i get a bluescreen full of error codes when trying to install using an iso file... i may need a BIOS update but idk, someone help?
-
Tried installing with windows 7 and got a blue error screen with error code: STOP:0x0000001E
-
i tried UEFI and it doesnt have legacy boot i dont think, and there are no error codes, it just kills the system after showing the windows 10 logo for ages

Okay thanks, I will try installing windows 7 tomorrow and if that doesn’t work I’ll post and let you know
