  1. So if I want to access the services on a network through VPN, then there will be extra steps required after the initial setup so the local machines and devices over VPN can communicate with one another?
  2. Would the device outside of the network be given its own local IP address when it's connected through the VPN or would all the network traffic appear as if it's from the device hosting the VPN?
  3. In the tutorials I've watched, PiVPN needs a port opened on the router in order to work. How does opening a port on a specific device give a user access to the entire network? Is it possible to limit the devices a user can access?
  4. Does this also apply to the sound wires (red white)? The ports for the analog sounds looks different than the ports labeled with s-video
  5. In the video of Linus digitizing his VHS, Mark uses the blackmagic design analog to sdi converter. He says that he can use the composite wires, which I'm assuming is the yellow white red A/V cables. The input ports of the converter does not look like the composite wires would fit. What adapters are needed to use the composite cables on this converter?
  6. For the blackmagic design analog to sdi, what kind of adapters are needed for the regular composite (red white yellow) outputs?
  7. I found an old card, and I don't think I've ever seen this connector type before. Any idea of what it is?
  8. For this Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro 1370, the screws holding down the CPU fan would not turn and were getting stripped by the screwdriver. I ended having to bend up the copper piping to the CPU to replace the motherboard. I had to bend it back, and it worked. So how badly did I mess up and what will happen with the bent out/bent back CPU fan cooler?
  9. I am trying to fix a Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro 1370. The issue that it has is that it will not boot up. When pressing the power, the fan runs and the keyboard lights up, but after 3 seconds or so, it shuts down. The screen remains black and won't even get to the logo screen. I concluded that it was a motherboard issue and eliminated SSD and battery/power issue. I am thinking about looking for a replacement motherboard on ebay or something and noticed that the CPU/GPU dies are exposed on the board. Is there a recommended thermal paste for laptops that have the die exposed? This is my first time dealing with an exposed die and I'm not sure if using certain thermal pastes would short it out.
  10. I created a Share on unRaid for Plex and mapped it to my computer as a network drive. I downloaded the Plex docker app from LinuxServer on unRaid. At first install and launch, the app works fine. When I add in media files into the mapped network drive, that's when Plex breaks and I can't get it to show any of the media that were there before. Restarting the docker didn't work. Restarting the machine didn't work Any ideas?
  11. So I recently learned that iTunes have almost no support for music files on a NAS or network folder. What software do people use to play music files off a NAS other than Plex for multi platforms?
  12. Is there a way to watch 4k UHD mkv video on VLC without having the colors washed out? I used the Plex media app to play the file locally, and the colors were fine. On VLC, I can't get the colors to look like that. On other forums, some say it might be a transcoding issue or there are settings to tinker on VLC
  13. I found this old hard drive from another computer that I wanted to plug into my main rig. When I plugged it in, the drive wasn't being detected. I looked through partitions, device manager, replugging it in the SATA. Is it not detecting because its another computer's boot drive?
  14. Is there a big power draw difference between a prebuilt NAS and a custom built? I am thinking of running RAID 1 with two drives with possibility of expansion for file storage and plex server using unRAID
