  1. A Techquickie suggestion: When or why should you upgrade your BIOS? I have been through the LTT and Techquickie library and had not seen any videos addressing this topic.
  2. And that my friend is what has gone so terribly wrong in the scientific community. As you stated; you need to publish the data you observed even if it doesn't support your hypothesis. "Pop science" drives me mad where you'll see a lot of the fame seekers but unfortunately there is a segment of hard scientists whom have also chosen this route either for fame's sake or avoidance to a bruised ego.
  3. Taxes, as it relates to the US, you will receive a 1099-MISC from the sponsor with the reported value of the prize which is considered taxable income. That exact tax however is determined by your tax bracket (gross income). Here's an article for the tax brackets for 2018 since it has changed with the recent tax cuts (https://www.forbes.com/sites/robertberger/2017/12/17/the-new-2018-federal-income-tax-brackets-rates/#6c6b1252292a).
  4. Sorry. You're not using any mods, are you? I know a FOSE mis-match will also CTD the game at start up.
  5. I'd find a local radio/TV shop that works on these old radios. They could tell you what exactly what this radio is used for and they can test the tubes. The tubes are generally in sockets (like an ice cube relay) but I can't tell you without seeing the base of the tube.
  6. Have you tried signing into the Social Club through the Rockstar web site? (https://socialclub.rockstargames.com/)
  7. There are specific tube testing equipment. You may find an old radio or TV enthusiast in your area that will test them (they may even have replacements too).
  8. It may not be worth powering until you have the tubes tested. Those vacuum tubes will degrade over time even without use.
  9. I'm game (but I'm old so you'll have to carry me) User name: Sickshooter0. I've added ELSknutson but Mel Giiiibs doesn't appear in my search.
  10. It's been a long time since I opened my PayPal account, but when you link it to a bank, doesn't PayPal make a tiny deposit to ensure the account and tracking numbers are correct? This may be the issue as well.
  11. This had worked for me several times when WU wouldn't install or hangs up when installing.
  12. Actually, you probably could. But you're talking about two different scenarios. There is a business tax approach and an investment approach. If you can show a realized loss (you bought coin high and sold for less), that could be considered a realized loss. The business side is a bit more complicated but you could conceivably start a mining company and when filing taxes take advantage of depreciation of equipment and other expenses related to the cost of that business.
  13. So, it would be OK then, even if it is "absurdly rare" for that one-in-a-million person who was the target of the file plant to serve time? This is a slightly different example. Tom Coleman was a Texas cop who arrested 10% of Tulia, Texas' black population on drug counts. Why? Well, Tom could have been a racist but he was certainly motivated by cash. When the FEDS started allowing state and local police to seize personal property of people found guilty of narcotics offenses and sell those assets, old Tom went on a spree of arrests. He was able to get convictions on a majority of his arrests solely on his word as a LEO. Tom's narc task force received tons of money from asset sales and federal grant money. My point is that we all would like to think that these things aren't "humanly" possible; from the short eyes watching CP, to BB geeks planting evidence or LEO's operating outside of the law. However, these people do exist and it is a reality; only a conspiracy until the action occurs.
