  1. So just to provide some closure. I bought the Edgerouter X and installed it. It's easy enough to setup the basics and it works just as advertised with my original onhub in bridge mode for the wireless coverage. No lags whatsoever when gaming and my wife is streaming netlfix. I was even able to write a task script that will make my QoS dynamic according to the time of the day. I recently acquired a deal with my ISP to double my bandwidth during the night hours (10pm -7am) so I did some research and tutorials in the ubiquiti forums and found a way to script the QoS setup, changing the parameters depending on the time of the day. I love this little router and definitely will recommend to people with similar situations.
  2. Thank you sir. I'm glad to see the over simplified interface of the Edge OS is truely enough in your case for the upload. Hopefully it will be with my setup as well, although the huge difference in download speeds should prove more of a challenge. I'll have to test and see.
  3. Thank you for the suggestion Donut, I'll keep that router in mind if or when my onhub fails to deliver. I am aware of the setup of the edgerouter X will require lots of time and testing. I'm also glad the documentation and the community in Ubiquiti's forum is very active and extensive, so help should be available when i encounter issues.
  4. Thank you for the replies guys. Glad to hear the Edge Router lite is working with your setup. Could you share your settings in the Qos tab of the EdgeOS interface? It's always good to have a starting reference of a working setup for later testing.
  5. Good day guys, I'm a new user on this forums and wanted to ask you all what is the best Qos router option for a WAN connection of 5mbps symmetrical up and down. I have basic knowledge on networking. My current setup is the google onhub and my ISPs modem. The prioritization feature on the onhub does not seem to work correctly when my wife is streaming Netflix (Via Wifi) and I am gaming on my desktop over ethernet. I've been researching on Routers with Qos for gaming and came across the EdgeRouter X (good price) with it's new "Smart Queue" feature that seem to work with other users with relatively low (25mbps/5mbps) WAN bandwidth. I do not wish to replace completely my onhub as it has great range and works perfectly for streaming videos to multiple devices only. It's the online gaming that suffers. My plan is to configure the onhub in bridge mode for wireless access point and use the ER-X as a router for it's Qos capability. There also seem to be a lot of information available to tweak it's advanced settings. Upgrading my ISP plan is not an option. What do you guys think? Any suggestions? Thanks in advanced.
