cpu-z tells you the model number, you can google that and it should show what ram you have

ChernobilChuck got a reaction from Fasauceome in Cpu question about i7 8700k and ryzen 7 2700x
I was waiting for something similar and yet people went full amd mode.

    to OP:
At 4k you wouldn't see a difference between the ryzen 7 2700x and the i7 7700k in games. The 7700k would perform better in games if you weren't gpu limited at 4k, so i don't see any reason to go for the ryzen when you already have the 7700k.

If you need another system you could get a lower end for whichever you use less but if you want 8700k or 2700x, then the 2700x is much better value, 8700k is way too overpriced at the moment.

Just don't worry about possible bottlenecks, buy the best gpu you find for your money.

ChernobilChuck got a reaction from bendik1704 in Need picture of AM4 CPU + MOBO
It's not really, he has the cooler and will have the board and cpu soon but if he only sends the picture to them by then he will have to wait till the am4 bracket arrives, it's not like he wants multiple am4 mounts for his cooler.

ChernobilChuck got a reaction from Lurick in Is this GTX 1050 a scam?
the specs don't check out either memory frequency is 3600mhz but average 1050 is around 7000mhz, "The highest resolution: 2048*1024" wtf? when did cards weren't able to do more htan that? my 4th gen i5 igpu can do more

You can definitely cut on the cooler, an air cooler should be enough for even some overclocking on that i5 but i will leave to other people to suggest you coolers, im not an expert at them. And i wouldn't cut the cpu anytime.

EDIT: 16gb of rams is getting more and more essential but if you don't play any game that requires it at the moment you can get a single 8gb stick and put another one in few months later.

ChernobilChuck got a reaction from J.b091 in Is my GTX 1080 dying?
It seems your GPU is thermal throttling, if it reaches it's temp limit than the hiccups occur it means it drops the core clock to reduce the temperature of the card, i would check afterburner to see on what % the fans are running, maybe set it to higher. Also it's quite rare but it happened to me, maybe check your card if the fans are even running, i had similar issues when one of my fans died on the GPU,

ChernobilChuck got a reaction from Hip in Is my system good enough for 144Hz casual gaming?
Sorry for the late answer but from my experience you can but it's pointless, it's a misconception that you need 144fps for a 144hz display, it's nice because you can take advantage of the display but a 144hz display will be the same experience as a 60hz one AT 60fps, with this i mean it won't be worse or lag, it will display the 60frames just like the 60hz one would.

ChernobilChuck got a reaction from Hip in Is my system good enough for 144Hz casual gaming?
Yes you would benefit a lot from it, if you have 80-90fps on a 144hz you can already easily tell the difference compared to 60hz.

freesync doesn't matter in fps so if you can hit 144fps with your current monitor you will be able to hit 144fps with that one too( from my experience 1060 6gb can hit 144fps but not on epic settings, i would say med-high on 1080p)

ChernobilChuck got a reaction from DogKnight in Need Help, I want a new router, but can't because of the way it comes into my home?
Sounds cool, i think i will try it with my old router which is 300mbit/s on wifi(still a lot more than this 30mbit/s) and if it works fine i will probably buy a decent router.

Thanks a lot for the help.
