  2. You don't think something like this could do the trick?: https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Wi-Fi-Range-Extender-EX2700/dp/B00R92CL5E?th=1
  3. Hey guys, my girlfriend lives in a garage apartment next to her landlord's house, but it has no cable connection for a modem. Essentially, there is no internet due to the range from the house's wifi to her apartment. I think this is due to the router being on the opposite side of the house of where the garage is. My first idea was go perhaps get a wifi extender, any recommendations for my situation? The distance from her apartment to the room where the router is located is maybe about 100ft(30 meters). Any suggestions?
  4. Alright I'll give that a shot and get back to you
  5. My mobo doesnt have a green light, but nothing is powering on. My specs are: -i5 4590 -GTX1060 -16GB of DDR3 RAM @ 1600MHz -ASRock H97 mATX mobo -EVGA 500B 80+ Bronze psu
  6. Hi guys, my gaming PC of 5 years wont turn on and I'm not sure why, one day after powering it off, it just never came back on. My only confusion is that I feel like the motherboard or the psu are working because when I turn on the psu, the keyboard connected to my mobo lights turn on. So wouldn't that mean my motherboard is indeed receiving power from the psu?
  7. Yeah I told them, they basically told me their hands are tied because its not one of their own. Yeah I might try contacting Arris.
  8. yeah I did, the problem is the app isn't compatible with non-Xfinity modems, according to their guys.
  9. So I've been trying to setup internet timers for my parents, they want the young ones to have restricted internet access on their tablets at certain times of the day/night, and they own their own Arris Surfboard modem. I immediately went to the router's own settings via the 10.0.0.1 address in the browser and when I went to go look at it I got this message in the screenshot: I clicked on the link and it brought me to Xfinity xFi, which is like an app that allows you to set timers and stuff like that via a smartphone app, the only problem is, is when I downloaded the app it said it couldn't work with my modem and to call Comcast. So I did, and to my surprise they couldn't even help me, telling me that if it's not a Xfinity modem that I'm renting from them, I can't set parental controls via their xFi app. They also said that if it was my own modem, that I would have to do it via the Arris Surfboard's software suite which as you can see, tells me to do it via Xfinity's app!!! This is very confusing and I was thinking maybe there might be a way to potentially restore the parental controls to the router? Any help would be appreciated, this is pretty freaking confusing.

  14. Hi LTT community! I recently got into streaming on Twitch(mainly Overwatch), and I was wondering what part of my rig I need to upgrade to hit high framerates while streaming. I'm used to playing on 144fps locked at 1080p(when I'm not streaming) but when I stream its more between 70-100fps. My setup is: -i5 4690k -16GB RAM -GTX1060 6GB Which part of my PC do I need to upgrade to get my beloved 144fps while streaming? Hell I'd even settle for a steady 120fps, I just want consistency.
  15. Thanks for the reply man, which modem would you recommend for my setup, preferably for $150 and under?
  16. All of them are Wi-Fi except one desktop. What do you think I should do?
  17. So I have 75 mbps down and 5mbps up speeds and I usually have friends come over and bring their PCs and we play multiplayer games like Overwatch and the like. I notice that occasionally throughout the day I get lag spikes up to like 1000 ping. For the record my roommates(have 2 roommates) and I do have quite a bit of tech in the place(2 Switches, 1 PS4, 3 gaming Desktops, and 3 smartphones.). We've been trying to figure out how to resolve the issue but I wanted yall's opinion on the matter before I take any sort of action. I've come up with 2 ideas so far: 1: I was thinking maybe my speed isn't enough for all the devices we have, so I'd upgrade to 150mbps down / 10mbps up. 2: Buy a modem instead of renting a Cisco manufactured one from Comcast Any thoughts?
