What are your local gas prices?
This is getting ridiculous.
Regular gas 17.84 sek per litre (7.85 usd per gallon)
Premium gas 18.40 sek per litre (8.1 usd per gallon)
Diesel 19.37 sek per litre. (8.5 usd per gallon)
It's increasing daily.
Just below $3/gallon for regular gas here

Goodness that view is gorgeous.
Yeah, pretty nice especially considering my rent, and the fact I am in the middle of the city

Thought I would share this here, posted elsewhere before, nearing completion now.
http://www.troelsgravesen.dk/Illumina-66.htm
I had the tweeters laying around, so I figured I would go for these.
I am using a simplified geometry to make build easier, but keeping angled parts to eliminate standing waves. I modeled it in Solidworks so I could calculate internal volume with all bracing in place (have not done bracing yet). Here is the basic geometry:
Next step, build a little scale model section to make sure everything is going together well, I dont have that much woodworking experience.
So far so good, time to get the wood, got nice sheet of MDF
A few other notes on the build
I am using double thick front panel for rigidity.
Also, these speakers are very very similar to YG acoustics Carmel 2.
The tweeters all almost the same - YG uses scanspeak tweeters custom made for them, with I believe a slight difference.
The woofers are also very similar: Same size, same basket and motor structure. Only difference I see is YG makes machined aluminum cones that they send to scanspeak to be used, while the regular scanspeak drivers use pressed aluminum cones.
Other differences, the waveguide built into the YG speakers, crossover differences, YG have an internal resonation chamber instead of a port to outside, and of course, the YG cabinets are machined aluminum.Front baffle going well, tweeter flush mount looking all good. I was a bit concerned, never built speakers before, or did a flush mount, but it seems to all be going well.
And woofer hole cut as well, ordering woofers now to test fitment
Woofers arrived
Sexy magnet structure
Test mounted, starting to look like a speaker
Both fronts done
Tweeter hole sealed off, and back of woofer hole widened to allow more breathing room (1.5" of MDF seemed to give it little breathing room with original hole)
Bracing and internal bottoms made
To do: Make tops, make bottoms, assemble, put in damping stuff, make crossovers, connect everything, finishing.
At some point Ill need to buy an amp too, dont have one right now.And the gluing has begun
Now that's looking like A speaker to me. Thank you harbor freight for 6$ big clamps
Damping materials put in
And backs glued on

Damn this computer was sexy. Stay tuned, maybe ill have something sexy again

Like @Ahoy Hoysaid, Audio is 100% physics and physics is just applied mathematics.
Everything related to audio can be simulated using calculations, including how sound interacts with a room, aslong as you know the parameters of the surfaces in the room.
The sound quality of equipment is measurable, and any change you can hear is either Psychoacoustic, or there was a change in the equipment that is measurable.
Quite frankly, if someone thinks equipment that measures the same sounds different, they either have Psychoacoustic/Mental influences or are BS'ing.
I'm going to have to counter this.
Yes, in theory, everything is measurable. But do we have the equipment to measure and interpret everything? No.
Frequency response is not the only measurement that is important. There is a csd/waterfall plot, impulse response, and much more, and that still doesn't fully describe the sound.
Yes everything is measurable, but everything isn't measured.

I do have experience in soldering. Can you please tell me more about the circuit...
You would need to open up the speaker and find the right part of the circuit board to solder to, which would be hard unless you know what you are doing, and even if you do know what you are doing, still might be hard.

Why not put the dial not at maximum?
-
Damn that really sucks.
Im surprised no protection in the power supply kicked in or anything.
Really sucks though, looks like you had a real nice rig. At least your neighbors caught it though and you didnt loose more.

I thought it didnt really matter though?
IDK i have kinda been outa the pc world after like 2015 -

Just change the powersupply to an sfx one and you're good with this. Or I may suggest that upgrade the CPU to a 7700k for $180, SFX PSU for $120 and an 3070 or 3080 for 500/700.
On my i7 7700 (non-k) I can say that cyberpunk is a GPU bound game and only upgrading the CPU,GPU, and PSU is enough to keep you game for now. And if more games started requiring more than 4 cores, maybe AM5 is out and you can do a platform upgrade there.actually the new version of FTz01 fits an ATX PSU, but only a really short one. I currently have an SFX PSU in it.
Only thing is those GPUs are hard to get. Ill have to see if I can eventually at a reasonable price.

The thing is, the 6400 has no HT.
Oh wow, i thought it did, but yeah, just checked task manager, it doesnt.

Honestly I wouldn't worry about it if that's the only game you're upgrading for. Wait a few months. Not only will everything be in stock, but the game will be more playable.
If you've already bought the game, then I'd look at a complete platform change as @Downkey suggested. You can likely reuse your RAM though (depending on the speed), and dump that money into a 3070. I'd also look for a used CPU to shave money off the cost, if the budget is tight.
is CPU really that important though? I would have thought the i5-6400 would still be capable?

Budget (including currency): 500-1000 USD
Country: USA
Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Cyberpunk 2077, rocket league, other games
Other details
Existing computer:
i5-640016gb ddr4
1tb nvme ssd
rx 480
450(?)W psu
All in an ITX Silverstone FTZ01 case
I am thinking about upgrading some stuff, I can only run cyberpunk 2077 at low settings. My monitor is a 38" ultrawide dell 3840x1600, so thats the issue.
Do I just need to upgrade GPU/PSU, or would CPU need upgrade too? And what GPU? Seems like you cant get the rtx 3*** or the rx 6*** now....

What cpu and GPU do you use. Mine when it’s not stuttering hold 144 but it stutters all the time now.
i5-6400
rx 480

yes actually

My controller broke. (using on PC)
What should I get?
Xbox one controller, ps5 controller, something different, something aftermarket? Thoughts? I am willing to spend a bit more than normal. -
Just now, Ashley said:
what psu do you have specifically? and what motherboard?
Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 550w
Gigabyte something, i forgot what, itx motherboard.
After unplugging my computer and opening it up, seeing nothing wrong, and clsoing it and plugging it back in, it turns on, so it works for now... IDK what is up, it did this before too.
-
Now my computer shut off during a game and won't come back on......
