Fuck, I'm a nervous wreck, just got through tsa and at the gate waiting for my plane, but fuck did it feel stressful, it went well but it still felt very stressful. Now I got 2 hours until boarding

You'll be okay dude, good luck with the meetup!

Thanks, now I just need to withstand my nervousness of going onto a plane for my first time and then see how I do on the plane for the 1 hour 30 minute flight time

On the upside, your first flight is a pretty short one. I haven't flown but my dad thinks I'm nuts because I want the first place I go to be South Korea (given it's a 15 hour flight).

    This.

Welcome to how I and many other people feel when travelling.

Something to note is that A) You'll feel a bit better with experience. B) flying with someone you know can make things less stressful.

Yeah, that's one of the good things, dont think I'll ever want to go on a 15hour flight, but seeing as they are thinking of going to Japan in the future I may just end up experiencing it

Like @TheSLSAMG said, your flight is a short one! Enjoy it! :)

Been traveling to Asia for a decade now, and man am-I glad we now have direct flights from Montreal! It's still 13-14h flights, but it's better that than a total travel time of almost 22h!! (used to be YUL-ORD + 3-4h wait, then ORD-PVG or ORD-PEK).

    :)

I would take the cheapest overlay ... now with the direct flight I care more about my time and to me, that almost 10h difference is worth more than the $200-300 I would save.

The worst part is out of the way once you find your terminal/gate. I love flying, especially takeoff. The feeling of the thrust as it pushes you back into your seat when they go to full power is exhilarating.

Buy gum, chew it during takeoff/landing. It'll help with the pressure changes

Welp, about time to get on plane

Just sit back, hope you don't have someone annoying sit next to you, and enjoy the ride! I eagerly await your thoughts on the experience after you land.

    That's an Airbus style winglet

Is that an A340 or A350 XWB then? or just an A320/321?

Also, I will confess I'm surprised to see an Airbus plane owned by a US based airline :P.

  19. handymanshandle

    handymanshandle

technically that is a wing fence/wing gate...

His flight is only an hour and a half, it's an A320 family plane.

All of the major carriers (Delta, American and United) and some budget carriers have Airbus planes.

(I.E Spirit Airlines, Frontier Airlines and JetBlue)

Delta got their Airbus fleet from Northwest and have been replacing older Boeing aircraft with Airbus

American has had Airbus in their fleet off and on and got some of theirs from US Airways

United, I'm not really sure what got them into airbus or if they have sorta had it for awhile.

The A350's "sharklet" is more like the boeing style of winglet that you see on like the 737

A340 and A330s have a different style winglet, the A380 shares the wing fence with older A320s.

@handymanshandle Which one? I'm, not a huge fan of the A330 and A340.

That being said the 777 is loud AF.

And the A320 is cramped AF.

T'was more of a joke about Airbus jets in general.

I realized we've just completely hijacked this thread.... but allow me to continue anyways. xD

I've once flown in an Embraer (they're Brazillian) jet and holy jesus that thing was tiny and so cramped.

I'm glad it seems you enjoyed it as much as I do xD I can only imagine the rush fighter jet pilots feel when they take off...
