  1. Makes sense, thanks for your quick reply, I will also order one with the card
  2. Hi, I am looking at upgrading to a RX 5700XT however I have ran into a issue I may have. How would I go about adapting Display Port to and older DVI only 144hz monitor? I have tried an cheap adaptor on my GTX 680 but it only shows up as 60hz... I know the DVI cable is dual link and capable of 144hz as I use it natively via the 680s DVI port. I assume I need a better adaptor? any help appreciated
  3. I have a friend who has cleaned out his PC put it back together and cannot get a post on his ASUS Z97-A motherboard. I have tried the following... Reseat of RAM (in every solt), GPU, CPU and cmos battery set all switches to default setting. Tired power on without GPU via integrated graphics. Tried power on without any SSD or HDD. The board is powered but just no post with no beeps I have tried everything I know, hopefully someone knows some answers.
  4. Thank you for all the help guys, it was indeed the RPM default setting being to high, I set it to the lowest and now it boots up just fine! Knowing that I can set it to just ignore the fan is great too.
  5. Hello everyone. I bought this cheap cooler a few years back with the rest of my pc and has not been a problem until recently, I get a cpu fan error message upon cold starts and have to exit it out of the bios to continue to windows and then it works just as it always does. I did try a small old cpu fan and didn't seem to be a problem, is there anything that could be wrong with the cpu fan or could it be my mother board settings? saying that I haven't changed anything for a long time so I cannot see the settings being the issue. I have already tried changing the thermal paste too, but it does not seem to be anything to do with the problem at hand as temps have always been the same. Asus Maximus VI Gene MATX, LGA1150 Intel 4670K, Cooler Master Hyper 212 evo any help would be appreciated :)
  6. Hello all, I have recently brought a 2nd hand ASUS VG236 monitor and really enjoy it, however it occasionally makes small or big cracking or popping sounds, not sure if it would be internals or the plastic structure, I ruled out the spring that was on the stand as it is now wall mounted and it still continues to make these sounds. Any help would be appreciated!
  7. Ahh ok, the only thing is, is that it worked on the other PC I had no problem, however that was without a DVI adapter. (VGA to VGA) Maybe its the adapter I am using... I am lost with what to do. I believe I may have the wrong DVI adapter... DVI I is the one with extra 4 pins?
  8. The projector turns on and works with another PC I have, but not this one The projector was on and set to VGA.... and PC recognized the projector. just no picture and blue screen. Thanks for the quick reply.
  9. Hello, I just bought a used projector to watch movies.etc (SANYO PLC-XW200) However when I connect it via a VGA cable with a DVI adapter into the DVI-I port on my graphics card, I don't get anything displaying on the projector, but windows does recognize the projector in the NIVIDA control panel as you can see in the attached screenshot. Not sure what I am doing wrong here... I do only have a 14 pin VGA cable, would that be the problem?, that is the only conclusion I have come too, I'm just posting here before I go buy a new cable. Any help would be grateful.. Thanks
  10. Still use a G9X, though this mouse does look sick.
  11. My favorite thing about the ASUS Rog G550JK is the overall build, especially the red trim. Laptops are meant to be thrown into bags and take a hit or two so the aluminum will help somewhat which is two things but yeah!
  12. Right I finally found out the problem, was nothing to do with the HDDs well sorta. Basically when windows installs it puts different drivers in from what I can guess for different types of CPUs meaning it was trying to boot windows as if it was a AMD setup which I now have an Intel 4670k so yeah. fresh install did the trick! Thanks for help guys, was late and I was getting a bit stressed as I have a plane to catch today and wanted it up and running before then.
  13. No i did not do a fresh install, I once transplanted a vista drive into my old system and it worked without having to anything other than slapping it in, thought i might of worked the same.. maybe im wrong. is it worth trying a freash install, I just really didnt want to have to reinstall a load of stuff thats all.
  14. sorry i didnt clarify that the drive was working perfectly just before I disassembled my PC. like i said i also tried booting my other drive with unbuntu on it and still gave me an error.
  15. Hi, Im fairly new to buliding PCs and have modded my old one a lot until this bulid. I bulit everything up today and have ran into one problem which sucks! Everytime I seem to try to boot my old Windows 7 HP HDD on my new system it gets to the windows boot screen and gives me a quick flash of a blue screen saying that the harddrive is faulty or something, so i ran the windows repair on it and it still yet gives me this error. I also tried booting my old ubuntu drive and it also gave me a similar error. any tips? hoping its nothing to serious... PC Cpu- intel 4670K Cooler- cooler master htper 212 evo Mobo- ASUS Maximus VI GENE pretty sure that the only important stuff anyone will need to help me let me know if you need more.
