ManlyToucan's Achievements

  1. I'm not sure. The total (gpus only) for 4x 1080 Tis would be $3,800. The total for 8x 1060 6GBs would be $2,300. Plus, power consumption is lower. Plus, I just like putting together computers.
  2. I was considering doing a rendering build similar to Barnecules' server build. But, his build is for Ethereum mining and rendering camera footage (as opposed to 3D animation footage). Would an 8x GTX 1060 (3GB or 6GB?) setup work for med-high texture 1440p60fps 3D animations? I was considering doing 6x GTX 1060 6GB + 2x GTX 1080 Ti, but, I need some experience thoughts on this topic. Or, am I just better off renting rendering nodes?
  3. I want to be able to stream video games from my Linux Mint KDE PC to my laptop (which has the same OS). I was told that there isn't a way, and Steam Link was the recommended option. I'm most likely going with the Steam Link, but, I'm still curious about game streaming w/o Steam Link. - 6-core 3.2Ghz CPU - GTX 1070 8GB - 16GB dual-channel DDR4-3200 memory - 2TB 7200RPM HDD w/ 500GB SSD
  4. Is there a big difference between a 60Hz 1080p 34" monitor and a 75Hz 1080p 29" monitor (besides size)? (Video Card: GTX 1080).
  5. Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

    AMD A420.

  6. Would running two solid state drives in RAID0 improve OS performance? Or, is there just too much risk with that, and running them in RAID1 be better for its redundancy?
  7. Out of curiosity, are you suggesting using dual X5660's in my rig or in a server? Because, I can't really find any LGA1366 motherboards at the moment. All the ones I am finding have PCiE 2.0 instead of 3.0 (not sure if that's an issue) and most boards I'm finding don't fit in standard cases.
  8. So, I'll be building a PC at some point, and I'm going to use it for Gaming Typically Half-Life and Quake, but I'll also play Battlefield games after BC2. I'll also play CoD MW and BO. Heavy internet surfing/video+movie streaming I'll be streaming videos/movies at 1080p. I'll also be on a ton of websites (Reddit, YouTube, etc.) Video Editing I'll be editing, rendering, encoding, exporting 1080p H.264 MP4 videos from my Canon PowerShot HX530 HS and my Logitech C615. The videos will range from 5min-1hr+. Livestreaming I'll livestream about twice+ monthly at 720p60fps. 3D Animations. I'll also be editing, rendering, encoding, and exporting 1440p60fps 3D animations (I'm not sure what codec I should use). Times will range from 2min-30min+. Specs AMD Ryzen 5 1600 GTX 1060 6GB 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3000MHz memory (2) 256GB SSDs 2TB 7200RPM SDHD Would this system work? Thanks in advance! EDIT: Would using a system with a bunch of GTX 970's be a good rendering rig? 980 Ti's?
  9. Intel NUC? More like,

    I N T E L    N U C C

  10. Bitcoin isn't mined on graphics cards. Plus, mining ASIC-resistant coins with graphics cards is still very profitable (well, it will be once prices go back down to MSRP).
  11. Will @LinusTech make a Mining Adventure videos reviewing/using the Octominer B8PLUS motherboard? It has 8x PCi-Express Gen 3.0 16x slots and an integrated Intel Celeron 3855U mobile cpu w/ SO-DIMM DDR4L RAM slots (8GB max).
  12. Looks great, too. Plus, it's compatible with all of Blackmagic's DaVinci tools.
  13. Kdenlive looks great, but, I might Resolve for DaVinci (*ba dum tiss*).
