prof.turnip.seed's Achievements

  1. Copper is just because I like to look of it, will mirror polish it but if the little imperfections show up too much and bug me then I will knock it back to a bright polish. Just like the look of the EK ones more. GPU fits easily with the water block on, the PCB is so much shorter than the cooler.
  2. I was planning from day 1 to watercool the GPU, just thought it was a good photo to demonstrate the length of these cards. The 12mm stuff has a very thin wall. Makes it a bit harder to work with than other plastic tubing I have used, ended up with bulges on the inside of bends and indents in the side of the pipe from the bend former. Their 14mm has the same inside diameter with a thicker wall, should be easier to work with. As I said, I ended up going for 12mm as I am planning on swapping out the plastic for copper and could only find 12mm copper tube.
  3. There 3080 cards have massive coolers. Would need to remove the bottom rad and lower front fan to fit it in with the original cooler on.
  4. I know, Have a 3200g knocking about and already had the system powered up, updated the bios for the 5000 series cpus, got some games preinstalled. Hoping that they will rarely need to spin up under normal use.
  5. It's corsair xt hardline satin black. Gone for 12mm tubing as that is the size of the copper tubing I could get hold of.
  6. Budget (including currency): £5k including everything Country: uk Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: VR, general gaming and CAD. Parts list: Corsair 280x Aorus X570i pro gaming AMD 5900X 32Gb Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 3600MHz Zotac gaming 3080 Trinity OC 2x Samsung 980 Pro 1TB Corsair HX1000i PSU Corsair XD3 pump + reservoir 2x EK CoolStream SE 280 EK Quantum Velocity CPU block Nickel/Black EK Quantum Vector GPU block and back plate Nickel/Black 2x Corsair QL120 fans 4x Corsair QL140 fans Corsair Commander Pro Custom sleeved cables, parts from MDPC-X Have a samsung odyssey G7 32" on the way. was going to go for the 27" but overclockers.co.uk had the 32" on sale Friday for £0.96 more than the 27". Want the G9 but just dont have the space for it. Valve index VR setup Logitec G815 3D connexion CadMouse Pro (had for a few years now, not included in the total price) 3D connexion SpaceMouse Pro (had for a few years now, not included in the total price) Just got a few things left to do: Need to make a new block for the entry to the GPU block, should be able to get in the machine shop tomorrow after work. Pipe that goes from the GPU to the bottom radiator needs finishing, will be done after I have made the block. The pipe work in there now is only temporary to work out lengths and bends, think it looks really good as is in black. Will be going for bright polished copper, was considering mirror polishing it but will show up all the minor imperfections in the bends. Cable colour is there to match the copper pipe. Ordered both the 3080 and the 5900X on their respective release days. 5900X turned up on the 14th November, 3080 turned up the 21st November. could be worse.
  7. To ensure that I can keep browsing the web I need to remove my network drivers: Nice one google.
  8. best bet would be to get a couple of fan splitters, idk if the kraken comes with one. that way you reduce the clutter in the case.
  9. I am currently using a laptop with a 15" 4k screen, I have also had the opportunity to use a colleagues XPS15 with a 1080p screen, personally i can tell the difference. Streamed 4k video looks noticeably better than 1080p streamed video and locally stored 4k video is a few steps up from the streamed. Granted the laptop screen is closer than you will ever sensibly have a 24” monitor and scaling is being run at 150%, I still would buy a 24” 4k monitor if that is what I have the space for on my desk. Something else to think of is if scaling works in all programmes you use? I have around half a dozen programmes which are hard to use due to improper scaling implementation. The dell P2415Q has a very nice panel.
  10. Can you plug something else in there to test the socket? preferably something low wattage like a light and something the same or above what your computer draws? a couple of other things which would be useful to know is voltage and rating of the breaker? It could also be caused by bad wiring in the socket or damaged cables in the wall. Most likely the breaker is under rated but it's worth investigating properly as bad wiring can lead to a fire.
  11. I believe that you should be able to achieve this by running a pfsense VM. check out spaceinvader one on youtube, he has a series of videos on setting up pfsense on unraid.
  12. is there something else in the iommu group with your graphics card?
