Hi Guys, I have a system here that I was trying to upgrade. Its a Xeon E3 1240 V5 in an Asus E3 Pro Gaming V5 Motherboard. It runs fine with the SK Hynix 8GB Stick that it came with, but wont post at all with 16GB Sticks that i managed to get my hands on (I have 4 of them). I've also flashed to the latest bios, but still no luck. After that I've got the 8GB stick in and it boots into windows perfectly fine as it did before. I took a photo of one of the 16GB Sticks (all 4 are identical) next to the 8GB One so you can see what I'm dealing with. Any help would be appreciated guys.

I thought I saw one review of the Nokia 9 that showed them taking a burst of photos - I've seen a few reviews of multiple phones recently so I may be mistaken but I thought it was that phone. If I remember correctly it can also save RAW.files.for later processing so you don't have tondo it on the spot.

I was in your position recently, the difference being I was a regular upgrader and had Windows phone from its beggining (Lumia 800) until the end (Lumia 950XL) I considered iphones and Android, and landed in android purely because of its customisation. What features windows phone had that they both lack, at least there was a chance someone made it work on Android. I then bought a Nokia 6 - I scored it second hand but still sealed for half off on gumtree (basically Australian Craig's list) The advantage here was that now I had a phone that I'd scored for an excellent price - I could either upgrade and sell the phone for little to no loss, or switch to iPhone and sell it for little to no loss. I used that phone, and eventually decided to stay with Android. Also, I wanted android one for the lack of bloatware and the promised upgrade cycles and so far HMD/Nokia proved to be reliable. I also needed a phone to be robust and have a good battery - my upgrade then came in the form of a Nokia 7 Plus in October last year, it is built like a Nokia should be and runs vanilla android (android one) I'll also mention I've used some customisations to help the transition - I use launcher 10 - this launcher seems to be the best at bringing as much of the windows mobile tile UI to android. At a glance you can't tell the difference. I was also able to export my SMS and MMs messages from my last Lumia to android - there is an android app that will restore from a windows phone backup allowing you to keep your messages. I also still use my Live.com account for all.my contacts and sync them in my phone. 6 months in and I'm happy with the Nokia 7 plus, great battery life and well built phone. Ironic also that ive landed with a Nokia as an ex Lumia user too but it fit what I need perfectly. I really miss windows phone, I laugh sometimes at "new" features (dark mode anyone?) On iOS/android that windows phone users took for granted. I'd have a hard time not switching back to it if it did make a return. Also, sorry for my long winded reply haha!

Excellent, that's the news i wanted to hear, I also had a look per orbitalbuzzsaw's advice, it seems OC'ing is limited on this chip, but that isn't such a worry for me. I think I'll go ahead and swap them over. Thanks Guys!

Oh, i hadn't considered OCing with the Xeon. Then again, I guess the E3 odes share quite a bit with Desktop CPU's compared with the E5 Xeons so that shouldnt surprise me.

Oh and I should mention that I looked at the Benchmark results of the two and they seemed quite similar, hence the question here. Thanks again guys.

Guys, just after some advice on if this is an upgrade/break even or downgrade at all? I picked up a Xeon E3 1240 V5, Asrock Desktop board and 32GB ECC memory for a ridiculously low price. Originally i was going to use it to upgrade the specs on my home server (This would Definitely be an upgrade on that haha!) but then started to wonder if it would benefit me more in my Desktop. MY Desktop is an i7 3770 with 32GB Ram, Zotac GTX 1070 AMP Extreme 8GB (The GPU i would keep with the new combo) I use the machine for Amateur Music production, plus play GTA V and have started an interest in Far cry 5. Thoughts? Any downsides to this at all? The way I see it, it is worth it even if it is a break even/side grade effectively, as i do get the upgrade to M2 SSD (I'm limited to standard sata at present) and the physical layout of the board actually places the physically massive GPU in a better position in my case. I just dont want to take a performance hit at the same time. Thanks guys!

If it works in your Mates PC and He has a PSU capable of running it (I assumed from his Pc also having one) then I'd say the card is faulty. Have you got both/all the extra power connectors connected to the card? I've had machines not post if that isn't connected before (Admittedly that was in many generations older cases though)

Hi Guys, Simple one (hopefully) for those in the know - I just upgraded from my 1050 Ti to a 1070 Amp Extreme. I am running 3 x 1080P Screens, the 1050 Ti handled this with 2 x HDMI and 1 x DVI, the 1070 However has 1 x HDMI, 1 x DVI and 3 x DP. So far as i can find online i should be able to make this work with a Passive DP-HDMI adapter? I thought i would check before i go buy one tomorrow. Thanks in advance for your help all!

I can vote for the new Nokias - I've got the Nokia 6 2017 and its one of the most robust phones i've had.

I agree at looking at the Nokias - I ended up buying the Nokia 6 last year, its cheap, it works well and there's a new version out now. I liked it because its built properly - My job means that i have a tendency to destroy phones every 6-12 months, so far this has a few scratches on it and that's it.

You know stripping the X86 set out isn't a bad idea, you could actually allow for this in software - imagine this, Intel increases the performance of the CPUs dramatically by removing the X86 instruction set, allowing for more space to crank up the performance but only for 64it. MS e.t.c. could then perhaps emulate the X86 portion for the few apps that people still use that require it. Hopefully any negative effect on performance from the emulation is negated by the increased performance overall, then perhaps X86 apps would run like they always have, but X64 could take advantage of the newer higher speeds?

I'd go the Office 365 Route - you get office and 1TB of One Drive storage. I did that for us in the end.

If your laptop has a CD Drive and you're ok with losing that, you can get bay adapters on ebay that allow you to install a second drive in the CD Rom Bay. Note that you need to search the model of your machine when searcing or it wont fit right.
