Greetings forum members,
Background
About 3 weeks ago I bought myself a DELL U2515h for €300,- as upgrade from my 6 year old Samsung Syncmaster 2333.
I received the monitor 3 weeks ago with dead pixels, so I RMA'd it. I got a new replacement with no issues.
Yesterday, my monitor simple died. I was watching Twitch when the monitor just shut down. At first I thought it might have been the power cable, but it wasn't.
Today I've send it back for RMA.
This is the first time I've upgraded my monitor, but so far it's leaving a sour taste in my mouth.
I plan on keeping a monitor for a minimum of 5 years. To see it die within 1 month is pretty bad.
Right now I have two options. Ask my money back or get another replacement.
TN vs IPS
I've been looking around for a different monitor, and so far I've narrowed it down to the following monitors. NOTICE: Don't recommend something else.
ASUS MG278Q - 1440p 144hz TN 27 inch for €500
ASUS MG279Q - 1440p 144hz IPS 27 inch for €580
My activities
Most of my time is being spend on the internet. YouTube, Twitch and reading. For school I mainly use the Office Suite. I don't do any graphical work, but I do enjoy messing with Photoshop (sometime).
In regards to gaming. Most of the games are shooters, but I also enjoy playing RPG, RTS, Action, Racing. NOTICE: I'm not a competitieve gamer.
What should I do?
This is basically the issue. Should I get another replacement, or ask my money back?
I've done some research of those two ASUS monitors, but it seems that they have QC issues like yellow glow, back-light bleed, dead pixels etc etc. Someone even said: MG27..Q lottery.
Lastly. I've explained my activities. Would the +€80 over the MG278Q be worth it? €580 personally more then I want to pay. €500 is just the limit, but of course it's TN.
Last words
Hopefully I've done a good enough job of explaining my issue. Apologies in advance if there any grammatical mistakes. I'm from the Netherlands, and English isn't my main language.
