Ran heavy stress tests and cinebench, performance by some magic has actually IMPROVED on previous stock performance, but I told him not to overclock and just be happy it's running. My buddy started crying with happiness once it started actually showed some stability, all I can say is thank you for the input and support, apparently miracles do happen with technology.

She's straightened out, going to go work on the mobo and see if we can get it to run

He should have asked for my help with it, but I think he felt confident after I'd helped him build the pc and thought he could handle it. Everyone makes mistakes, it's just unfortunate that his was a $400 one.

Alright, I'll try to give it a shot and see how flattening it goes. The mobo itself is just going to take me some time to fix, I'll give you the results. Thanks for all the help guys.

I feel like trying to bend it back is the only possible solution, but does anyone have any ideas on how I might do this? At least give it the best chance of success

Isopropyl alcohol will indeed take care of the thermal paste on the pads. 
 
As for the possible crack in the CPU, the only thing you can try is to carefully bend it back and hope it doesn't snap. 
If you can straighten it out, test it.  If it doesn't boot, it's probably dead indeed. 
 
If you have access to another 8xxx series CPU, use that to verify that the socket is ok. 

the cpu is no where near to the corner of the "processor", the die is in the middle of it all.  The only thing you need to worry about is a broken landing spot for a pin, or a broken trace inside the pcb. If there isn't a damaged pin landing spot chances are it's fine and I wouldn't try bend it back into place, just leave it.  Isopropyl will work well for the TIM (thermal interface material).  As for the pins on the mb (motherboard) I'm pretty sure Linus did a video within the last year about fixing them, maybe it was Jayz but I'm sure it was Linus.  That is going to be the biggest problem if there isn't something broken on the cpu.  If the combo doesn't boot, don't throw anything out, make sure you can try a known good cpu on the "bad" mb, and the cpu in a known good mb.  There is no way to know which it is at this point.  (fyi the included info for acronyms is because I don't like seeing someone use one I don't know)
