  1. Hello everyone I need some input, please. Right now I have a galaxy tab 10.1 inch ( 1920/1080 ) I use this device primarily for twitch/youtube/nextflix in bed. I've had it for a couple years, and am happy with it, but considering an upgrade. Black Friday is fast approaching, so I know there will be some deals. I prefer to not deal with any Apple products. what I am looking for 1-bigger than 10.1 inches 2- better screen resolution 3- battery life 4- under 500 US$ 5-no idea.
  2. In case anyone wanted an update. I drove back to Microcenter and bought a Hyper 212 evo. I admittedly did pay a local tech shop to install for me, because I am not comfortable as a first time builder messing something as critical as a heatsink up. It actually took the guy a good 35 minutes to install, as he said he never installed an evo before ( that was surprising ) now I am idling at 30C with a max load temp of 60 degrees, so needless to say it was definitely a worthwhile upgrade.
  3. Yes, positive as i gripped the cooler to try to lift it up and it wouldn't budge. But perhaps something is wrong with it. What kind of temps ARE normal for this chip?
  4. If I have a bad mount of a stock intel cooler that all you have to do is press down, then my computer should be taken from me lol. Well what are my possible options? I was going to buy a hyper 212 evo, a fan splitter, and 2 fans for the front to see if that helped. I am going to pay for this service though, I don't want to mess up installing another cooler. I was told that because its the non K version, the stock cooler would be suffice. Apparently I was lied to
  5. Intel i-7 8700 ( non k ) stock intel cooler. NZXT case 2 fans one in the back and top, I currently have no fans installed in the front of the the case. Artic silver 5 paste. Idling temp is fine, around 50C however, when I play Overwatch, which is not an intense game, it STAYS at 98-99C until I exit the game, and then it quickly drops back down. I just reinstalled the heatsink with thermal paste-no difference. What exactly are my options? a fan in the front? an aftermarket cooler? I did not think a non k 8700 would reach this high of a temp.
  6. Well can someone tell me if there is a humongous leap in performance from a 10603gb to a gtx 1070? my aim is to future proof myself the best I can, while sticking to a budget. And FWIW, I have no interest in the new GTX cards they just announced.
  7. 30 years old, had never done it previously. My current computer ( well not anymore ) was purchased prebuilt from Craigslist, in a deal that surprisingly worked out great. It had 8 gbs of Corsair 1600 MHz ram, a 300 GB HARD DRIVE ( fancy ) also had a AMD Phenom XT 1090T. This was bought around 2012. This was my everyday computer and I had zero problems with it, even playing WOW in a hot room when the CPU temps would hit over 90%C, it never shut down. But I was always curious about building a computer-lord knows I have spent hours watching Linus and other tech channels, who made it look so effortless. And I wanted a new computer because I purchased a 144hz monitor, which my current system couldn't really hit reliably ( I mainly play Overwatch on low settings ) There is a microcenter about 30 minutes from me. All in all I spent 2 hours there, and spent north of 745$ bucks-which for someone who isn't rich, is a pretty serious amount. I was very intimidated, because I knew that if I MESSED something up, they most likely wouldn't return it, and you hear all of these horror stories about bent CPU pins, frying the mobo with electorstatic, etc etc. The build process was interesting, I honestly think I over-thought every aspect, because I didn't want to break anything, but as I have come to find out, todays hardware is pretty damn tough. So, as of last night, the computer was fully assembled-I finally configured BIOS, installed W10 from a USB drive, and that's that. My closing thought? When can I do it again? And for those wondering, my new build is NZXT S340 black. INTEL I7-8700 ( non K ) ( with stock intel cooler which I will replace ) MSI GTX 1060 3GB. Gskill Aegis 2400 MHZ DDR4 16GB Inland professional 480GB SSD. Corsair CX650M power supply ( probably overkill ) MSI B360-M MOBO ( cheapest I could find, I paid 40$ for it ) So far have only played overwatch. Pulled around 120FPS on Ultra-in the high 200's on low. May be able to get more FPS if I update the drivers, or I may be GPU bottlenecked. hoping to get a 1070 when Black Friday hits.
  8. Msi b360m. Even when choosing the usb as priority, it still just brings me back into the bios. Before i kept getting select proper boot device error.
  9. Ok im having a hard time. First time in bios trying to install widows 10 but i keep getting a select proper boot device message. I changed it to my ssd ans it just keeps bringing me into bios. Do i need ti have the usb drive windows is on as my first priority? Tldr how do i install Windows 10 for a new build from bios
  10. There is no power to the peripheral. Mouse and keyboard. Display port says no signal. But i used my phone charger in the same usb and it charged
  11. Please someone help. I took out the cmos battery. I dont have a jumper cap my mobo didnt come with one. I literally dont know what else it could be
  12. Everything is connected. I even tried a usb charger for my phone and it worked in the exact spot where my keyboard is. I literally want to break it into a million pieces
  13. Posted to bios. Said memory was wrong. Moved memory, now it wont post. Displayport no signal error. Mouse and keyboard not getting power. Tried reseating ram, removing it, nothing. Tried removing cmos battery...nothing. it posted one time thats it. As a first time builder i am about in tears. 745 dollars and nothing is happening. I have tried everything. The board powers on white led light fans spinning. No beeps or anything. I give up.
  14. Okay can someone please help the same USB port that I'm plugging into the keyboard I just plug a regular USB that charges my phone and it charged it just fine so that tells me that the USB ports are working properly but I can knock it at the post and I'm not getting power to the mouse or the keyboard to get into the BIOS menu and the display message I get every time I power the computer on is simply no DisplayPort signal that's it
