  1. If you already have a 1070/1080 I'd recommend it, some pretty decent monitors with g-sync up in the £300-400 range. Though I feel AMD offers a better bang for your buck, as it has a much bigger range and is very similar to what g-sync has to offer. I'd legitimately buy an AMD card or recommend for free-sync,if the RX 570 and 580 were back at RRP.
  2. It's nice to not have to worry, I guess. You could easily crank any/if not all games up to maximum at 1080p or downscale from a higher resolution. Kind of up to him if he wants to move forward or not.and his opinion on his video quality.
  3. Most games like clockspeed/cores though it often depends on the effects being used/game engine. tl:dr everything(?) The usual i3 8100 build with 8GB DDR4/1TB blue and a 1050ti. Could always swap out the 8100 with a ryzen 3 1200 or whatever the amd equiv is. I think it's around £500-600 for most people but I've seen people say £750-1k is a normal thing. Personally fall into the 500-600 range as I can always upgrade later and that's what I like about that zone. Spent £611 I think on my current build so far, I have a 8600k, 8GB DDR4, 525GB SSD and a 1050ti. Upgrading my GPU next summer or something.
  4. TVs, I guess. I still have some 14 inch CRT TVs for older consoles.
  5. Personally I generally use the computer case box, as that tends top be pretty top notch. Could always add some instapack if you want the insides to stay intact.
  6. Probably would sell the GPU and upgrade to a 1060 and buy a I5 7500 or a used 6700 or something.
  7. Pretty much how I choose my boards most of the time. Been using asrock for years and they've never let me down. Besides the bioos flash thing, that bloody thing never works.
  8. I'd show a picture but my desk set up is currently a mess. Though the specs are a 1050ti/8600k/8gb DDR4/Z370 PRO-4 in a Define S. Have a 200cm desk, plywood with oak laminate. Got it for £10 last year and it seems fine, though I need to buy a mouse pad. For monitors, I just brought 2 monitors but haven't set them up yet. Currently have it hooked up to a TV.
  9. If it's flat and you don't have any fans on the top then it should be fine. I've got my PS4 sitting on top of my define S currently.
  10. Processor; depends on task but for the most part I'd say intel. Motherboard; I personally prefer gigabyte because I've had great experiences with the tech support team but it kind of doesn't really matter as long as it fits your needs. Right socket, ports etc. Graphics cards; I personally like the EVGA ACX series as they're decently priced/perform pretty good thermally for the most part. For small form factors I'd choose zotac, kind of has no competition. RAM; I think Kingston offers the best value/dollar whatever your currency but I prefer the looks of most corsair kits. RGB and whatnot. Storage; kind of tough. Never really thought about that but I find myself using WD M.2/SSD/Hard drive combos a lot as they tend to be pretty reliable. Monitor; would depend on usage but dell seems like a pretty solid option at this time. I'd say asus if you prefer high refresh rates over colour accuracy. Power Supply; I always use the RMX series for my current builds due tot them being fairly decent in terms of price. Though I could probably just link you to the tier list as that is probably more helpful.
  11. Never seen a PS4 in the UK go for £200 used, assuming it's a 1TB? I'd personally wait/save for a couple of weeks. If you've got collectors editions, yeah. Most games go around £35-40 used unless it's a switch game.
  12. I spent too much on my processor/case/power supply for my needs. I'm sure they're going to last but still kind of over-powered for my needs. I couldn't afford the GPU I wanted at the time, so I poured all my money into my CPU/cooler/case/PSU and I'm still planning on switching the case and cooler. I don't normally overclock but I've overclocked to 5.2Ghz.
  13. All communities have a toxic section, honestly think they can provide some laughs under the right circumstances. Old board I used to go on had a play station fan-boy come on daily and it lead to some of the funniest arguments I'd ever seen. Generic video game forum on a site that's been shut down for a couple of years. I don't get insulted for being bad or anything, as I don't play seriously or competitive though I've heard the amount of salt in those communities is enough to start a salt company. I have no idea but yeah always going to have one or two toxic people on a website/forum/whatever. It really doesn't matter.
