    Project BoomBerryPi
The thing just might explode with all of that water.. also thanks to @Den-Fi for the name !
Oh yeah, it's that time of year again !
Come, have a seat, and join me on this new Raspberry Pi custom case project !
As some might recall, this is not my first Pi case. My previous project the ThinkPI is currently on hold due to part unavailability.
This Pi project however, is merely the start of a new bigger project : Project Radinator (Build log to come). This project will mostly serve as a prototype for it.

Link to Level1Techs version of this build log : https://forum.level1techs.com/t/boomberrypi-new-chassis-new-tricks/153771

    So, what is it ?
It's a custom case with intergrated watercooling.. For a Raspberry Pi
I know this makes little sense for a Pi, but it makes a lot more sense for the full case. the water cooling here is just for fun.
Enjoy most likely the most overkill Raspberry Pi case out there

Entire cost (excluding the Pi) should be under 200$
Now that might sound like a lot, but that's because I have yet to get a quote for the case.
(I estimate 100$ cad but I doubt it's gonna be anywhere close to that, more like 50$ tops)

    Components :
Raspberry Pi 3b+ Noctua NF-A4x10 (x2) Alphacool DC-LT (and likely top) or this Copper tubing (4mm OD) Aluminium welding rods Aluminium for the case (duh)

    Link to the updates :
    Updates to come..

    The plan :
So, the plan is to draw up the case in 3D (photos below) and to have it laser cut out of 1mm aluminium sheets. the sheets will have holes in them (they're 1cm wide, the holes are 4mm in diameter)  for the copper tubing to go through. There will be a spacer between each fin, however I am still undecided on how to hold them all together (I'd want to avoid welding, considering the size)

Here are some design renders as of today :
The side I/O (as seen by the top opening) will be routed to the back on the other side of the panel. I will probably end up with either another metal plate or a 3d printed block.

Now, here's the (slightly) troubling part.. For the copper tubing to go through to the front radiator fins, I have to cut a hole in 2 of the fans (in and out)..
    Owell  Featuring a double 90* bend :

For some help understanding how the copper goes through the fins, have a look at the bigger case :
Note that there will not be anything on the top for the pi, only the front :

Note that there will be a side panel like on the bigger version :

Oh and speaking of the bigger version.. here's a size comparison

The left is holding an E-ATX motherboard.. more on that later

    That's all for now.
I hope to have some news soon !

I wouldn't go as far to say that, but it certainly goes as far as making the biggest chip with the most cores go the fastest.   Which sells more articles and ads than "domestic office machine clocks up second fastest OC on X".

The reason they used this instead of a 3600 is because the highest SKU almost always has the best binned chips. They’re going for the #1 spot they need the highest binning achievable and they wouldn’t get that if they bought a cheap CPU on the same architecture.

8uhbbhu8 reacted to WkdPaul in Chinese X86 CPU on it's way - The Zhaoxin’s KaiXian KX-6780A
Zhaoxin says the KX-6780A (an 8 core CPU) is comparable to a 7th Gen Intel Core i5, those are 4 cores, 4 threads CPU ( but they didn't mention which one though!). So they're obviously looking at multi-core performance, that could mean it's VERY slow in single-core performance (IMO it probably will).

The CPU is BGA and won't be available until March (from another company by way of a mini-ITX motherboard / CPU combo).

Regardless, if it's priced accordingly, this could make for affordable low power needs, but I'm not sure I would trust a Chinese company not to insert some spyware in the core of the thing.

When trying to keep pricing competitive goes wrong.

I assume this (from Intel) is to keep the associated mobo price down for another refresh and remain competitive to Intel fanboys.  Wonder if the mobo manufacturers or Intel eats this cost.

With that power consumption, I am not sure who would purchase that CPU. The overall cost of beefier motherboards, power supplies and electricity will disadvantage this chip vs AMD's current offerings. No production house or HEDT user would choose this part over a (probably) much cheaper, more efficient, cooler and less expensive overall part from AMD. But let's see.

Our state already has an anti-texting/mobile phone law.  However people still abuse the law.  And Minors who abuse the anti-texting law are under stricter policy under that law.  However it doesn't work.  They will text while driving and it's not even monitored by the police unless you're in an accident.

USA.... You can own firearm at an age of 14, but cannot own a god damn phone before turning 21.

The argument "X people use Y thing while driving is causing accidents" can go so deep, you will need a flashlight to see.

Another point is "suicide prevention". Question - Where do you draw the line between phone and a tablet? Or better - What is a smartphone? This reminds me about our ridiculous "TV License" law here in Ireland. It states that all TV owners must have a license, but it doesn't really specify what a TV is. It only outlines its basic functions that require you to get the license.

So same applies to smartphones. It doesn't specify what a "smartphone" is. I can easily go on Amazon and find a decent tablet under 10 inches that works exactly like a smartphone, but isn't classified as one.

Thoughts: considering the fact that not even the senator that made the proposal would vote for it, is he being serious? If so it's not a well made statement that is for sure, not to mention the economic effect and black market that is sure to follow.
