wirs got a reaction from plumptree in Cheap server chassis! Perfect for home servers!
Also if anyone is in need of a cheap server rack, you can always go to IKEA and buy the LACK coffee table. It has the perfect size to mount servers inbetween the legs

Vr works very well with dual gpu's. When the game supports it each gpu will render 1 eye and thus scaling pretty well

wirs reacted to Emily Young in Do Dual CPU Sockets Matter in 2018?
Xeon Scalable is Intel's "true" high-end workstation CPU line, with multi-CPU support baked in. But that comes at a cost...
Buy a Xeon Scalable CPU:
On Amazon: http://geni.us/DOS2Z
On Newegg: http://geni.us/fXrZ85
Buy an ASUS WS C621E SAGE Motherboard:

wirs reacted to WereCatf in Running 800 watt computer on battery...for 12 hours
Is the plan to design your battery-backup so you can run your PC at full 800W for 12 hours straight, or are you willing to cut on its power-use when battery-powered? If the plan is to get a sizeable enough system to run it at full blow for the full 12 hours straight, you'd need to theoretically 9.6KWh battery-pack! In the real world there are losses in conversion, so it's good to count for, say, 80% efficiency, which would mean 12KWh battery-pack -- that's quite an enormous pack, no matter how much money you can throw at it.

wirs reacted to Overl0rd in Custom Laptop
I highly doubt battery manufacturers would accept custom one-off orders. Most batteries consist off multiple 18650 cells. Your best bet is to buy these and then create a custom power and charging circuit.

wirs reacted to Pixel5 in Building a custom robotic arm
the fact that you rate the power of an electric motor in horse power shows that you really have no real idea what you are doing.
building a robot arm is very easy, you select motors that fit your needs and possibly already have rotary encoders build and, build the arm according to your needs and then build the control circuit.
the very first thing you want to look at is what exactly is this arm going to do and what kind of motor do you need to achieve this, everything else will then have to be adjusted to that motor and specific action the arm will do.

Little Update!
I recently presented the project along with a self-sufficient solar plane I designed in a Spanish robotics competition and actually came first! I got to showcase the project on national television and met a bunch of cool people like the co-founder of Arduino (Video he made with me will be up on the Arduino channel soon). I also interchanged info with a bunch of people that were interested in the project so I might be able to get some sponsors onboard with the project. I'm just finishing my finals next week and as soon as I'm done I'll start designing V3 hopefully getting it closer to 2x2cm.
