  1. So sometime back I got myself a fairly standard 43" 4K TV nothing special but very low input lag. Upgraded to a 2070S but that clearly isn't enough to play every game at 4K. So what has really surprised me is how good 1440p looks on this TV. Now as I said it's an entry level Samsung so there is no fancy upscaling goin on. Plus 1080p DOES look quite horrible contrary to what I had read about 1080p on 4K. For all intents and purposes 1440p is absolutely acceptable to me which is great as I don't necessarily have to keep up with 4K requirements. So that got me thinking about LTT doing a blind test of non native and native resolutions. Does a 4K screen running a game at 1440p look better than a native 1080p screen of the same size? How much better does native 1440p look compared to 1440p on a 4K screen of the same size? Are TV's better at this than monitors? A 27" screen can be found in all 3 resolutions. For TVs we can't get native 1440p obviously but 4K and 1080p of the same size can be done. Would you guys like to see a video like this?
  2. First ad 0:53 - 1:06 Second ad 6:37 - 7:07.
  3. So now we are going to have 2 ads in between the content. They just don't give a f*** really.
  4. A quarter of this video is an ad. Yes a quarter.
  5. lol dude I know they are ads but they are not intrusive on the viewing experience. How is this difficult to understand? I can't think of a sport with intrusive ads. TV channels are probably the worst at it and one of the reasons I don't watch much TV at all.
  6. There is a thing called intrusive ads. I don't use adblock on my phone and I don't find the ads in the YouTube app to be annoying. Never did I say that there should be no ads. They are a vital source of sustenance for a lot of what I find entertaining. There is no reason why I should get mad at all the ads just because you say so. I don't even find most other tech channel ads to be annoying apart from a few. Your analogy about the car is so ridiculous. It's a brand I like and have no issue with having it's logo on my car.
  7. Most videos don't start with an ad. There is an intro then the first ad, then the meat of the content followed by a second ad that can sometimes be as long as 60 seconds. I don't really mind the first ad although recently they have become annoying as well. I just hate the way they do the second ad "and speaking of which". I don't specifically recall a video but there have been occasions when he says something on the turn of "and speaking of which" where you think the ad is about to start but in fact he is still talking about a product and just said it in a way that looks similar to the way the ad starts. Maybe it's just me who finds this particular style of ads really distasteful.
  8. For my personal car no but for a sport it doesn't bother me in the least. Are you really comparing that with being thrown tunnelbear in your face out of nowhere?
  9. There are channels with a bigger audience. The size of the team should not result in lower profit because they churn out videos faster than any other tech channel because of the team. If the team makes their profit per view lower then it's their inefficiency, the team is supposed to increase that. They probably have the highest total monthly views of any tech channel and that's because of the team so don't tell me they need more ads for the bigger team.
  10. Ridiculous comparison. You compare LTT with other YouTube channels not cable TV. This video is a good example of how bad their advertising can be. 2 ads in a 5 minute video and both are actually part of the video rather than being separated ads. This is just greedy behaviour they are not the only entity covering CES.
  11. Did I say that there should be no ads? Maybe you should read the post before commenting. And mind you LTT is not the only tech channel on YouTube but they have by far the most intrusive ads. There are channels bigger than LTT and smaller but no one is doing ads like this.
  12. I am completely aware of the fact that everyone wants to make money and that's totally fine. I am also aware of the fact that I can just stop watching the content. But that's not what I intend to do and I am just here to give my opinion on something. LTT is pretty much what got me into YouTube and it still remains my favourite channel albeit with a major gripe. I understand the need to integrate ads inside videos but what I find really unprofessional is when an ad starts just as the content ends and you are not even sure if this is part of content or an ad for a second or 2. You know I am talking about the "and speaking of which" type of ads. I have also had situations where I thought the ad had started but in fact it had not. It just negatively impacts the viewing experience and really comes off as cheap and unprofessional. I mean I get it that from the point of view of the advertiser this is an ingenious way to make the viewers know about your product but from the point of view of the content creator it's terrible in my opinion. The ads that you guys generally run at the start of a video seem perfectly fine to me(even this is sadly changing to the abrupt ads) and are generally pleasing to watch as well. I am not saying that there shouldn't be an ad in the end but please not this way. And yes I made a profile just to make this thread.
