I am considering buying a new monitor in the near future, so the monitor is likely to be some sort of OLED HDR monitor. The problem is that OLEDs or a lot of good OLED monitors do not display text completely clearly due to the subpixel layout, so the OLED monitor that I may buy may be problematic for general web browsing and my work where I need to read a lot of text the whole work day.
I was thinking of using my current main monitor for work and general use and the OLED monitor for gaming or when I am too lazy to move the monitor away. The next problem now is finding some solution to be able to move the monitors around without it being too problematic and/or taking a lot of effort to the point where I will always be too lazy to move the OLED monitor around.
I am using a monitor arm for the current main monitor, but it can only easily move the monitor around horizontally and not vertically. I don't have a lot space, so the other monitor that is not in use will likely need to be moved vertically up when swapping the two monitors.
My current monitor setup and limitations are as follows:
A secondary monitor to my left that I use for Discord, secondary web windows, and other secondary tasks where I do not need to constantly look at and constantly straining my neck to look at things to the left. This monitor must not be moved as I can't be constantly moving Discord and the secondary windows around and changing my workflow daily.
A primary monitor at the center for all the main tasks. It is an IPS monitor so there are no problems with text clarity.
My right side can possibly have a monitor positioned there, but vertical space is extremely limited and will also mean I need to move the monitor at night since that's where my bed and pillow are. There are things to my right anyway so to have a monitor to my right, I need to sacrifice quite a lot of things to make this work.
In the future, I may upgrade my desk to a standing desk, so having a monitor to the right will not work. There may be ways to work around that by moving the desk somewhere else in my room but right now I am looking into monitors and not a new desk.
I was thinking that if I want to move between two monitors to main view, I would need some monitor arms that can move monitors vertically easily. That way I can move one of the two primary monitors up so I have a reversed L layout for my monitors.
Are there monitor arms out there that can move monitors vertically without excessive effort and be capable of stacking the monitors vertically? I suppose if these monitor arms do take excessive effort, I would still be open to using them if they were the only options that I have. Otherwise if anyone can think up of a different solution to physically swapping two monitors vertically that would be good too.
It's also possible that I wouldn't mind text being slightly less clear on OLED monitors to need this solution, but I wouldn't know for sure until I get the monitor so I would need to get some sort of solution for this problem before committing to that idea.
EDIT:
Some more details about current monitors and future monitors since monitor weight can be an issue:
I am using 1440p 27 inch 16:9 monitors.
New monitor will also be 1440p, but it may be 16:9 or ultrawide curved.
I don't plan on getting anything that is vastly different in monitor width/height, since my glasses prescription is quite bad and anything larger will likely mean I need to move my neck a lot to see things in larger monitors.
