  1. Hi everyone.
After a bit of advice on RAM.

    Hyporthetical use case:
Motherboard: Asus Maximus ROG Z690 Hero
    Processor: 12900k

I believe the 12900k officially supports 4800MHz RAM.
    The Z690 Hero supports 6400MHz.

My understanding is that if your motherboard supports it, you can use XMP to overclock and it will run.

Would a user be able to use 6400MHz RAM in this setup without issue; as an example, a kit of 2 sticks of either 16GB, or 32GB?
I would imagine the 12900k can do above 4800MHz?

    Appreciate any help.
    Thank you.

  2. I heavily reduced my viewership of the spin-off LMG channels in response to the resolution of clickbait titles.

My level of concern would have been mitigated had the clickbait been accompanied by comprehensive context, which I distinctly recall was initially pledged by Linus during the initial discourse on the matter.

From the commencement of the Short Circuit series, I promptly developed a sense of disenchantment towards the individuals operating behind the camera, who exhibited an escalating frequency of attempts at humor. This source of irritation was particularly pronounced in instances where Adam assumed a role behind the camera, as it appeared that his interjections followed each of the presenter's paragraphs.

There exists a multitude of organisational aspects within LMG that necessitate rectification, a significant portion of which pertains to personnel displaying incompetence or creating a sense of vexation.

  4. Further to the above, I have now tried a fresh install of Windows 10; manually enabled HAGS...
    All the problems persist.

Any DLSS 3.0 game, I can't select DLSS as an option, nor can I see/select Frame Generation.

No idea what this could be.

  5. Hi everyone.
I'm having an issue that I can't seem to get my head around, and hoping someone can help me.

I recently bought an MSI RTX 4090 Suprim X GPU, and wanted to play around with the frame generation in DLSS 3.

The issue I'm having is, in the games that seem to support DLSS 3, I can't even select DLSS as an option.

The DLSS 3 enabled games I've tried are Spider-Man Remastered, Miles Morales, A Plague Tale: Requiem and F1 2022.
As you can see from the attached screenshots, DLSS doesn't even appear, and Frame Generation is either greyed out, or doesn't appear.
HAGS is enabled in Windows settings (screenshot also attached), though this was on by default as I'm on Windows 11.
Note: With A Plague Tale: Requiem, the only option I see is 'Resolution Optimiser', which I know isn’t correct, as I’ve seen pictures and videos of the options that should be available to me.

    I’ve tried:

    • A fresh install of graphics drivers (also tried this using DDU).
    • Then a fresh install of Windows, and in turn a fresh install of GPU drivers.
    • Reinstalling the games on Steam.
    • Verifying the game files.
    • Manually downloaded the latest DLSS .dll files and place them in the game folders
    • Tried to force them on by amending the game's config files.
    • I have also tried forcing these options on via the GeForce Experience application, and in the case of A Plague Tale: Requiem, when I load the game, the splash screens appear, but crashes to desktop... It's not until I revert this in GeForce Experience that the game loads properly.

All other games that run DLSS 2 seem to work...

Piror to owning the RTX 4090, I did have a 3000 series card.
The Spider-Man games were fine with DLSS... The only persisting problems from that card were the options for normal DLSS on A Plague Tale Requiem and F1 2022.

Could this be a Windows 11 problem?

I've tried this on both Windows 11 with and without the 2H22 update... I'm currently on Windows 11 without 2H22.

Should I try this with Windows 10?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

  6. Depends if you can afford it or not.
    1) Is all the money you have for the PC?
    2) If you made a saving on the card, would it go to improve something else in the PC, or would it just be a saving?
    3) How long have you been waiting?
    4) How long are you willing to wait?

I've seen about a thousand videos, from all tech YouTubers, stating the prices are going to come down, which they have, but they're still not at MSRP, and likely not to fall to that level for a while, as there's potential for more drop in supply.

It's like waiting to upgrade you PC... Should I wait for the next gen.... That comes out, but then should I wait for the next gen... I vicious cycle.

ye ok. but i have to admit that ur 200mm madness i prob the reason 😛

me myself is a 200mm fan, pun intended, running 4 of them 😄

That's why I'm struggling to ever be done with this case... They weren't kidding when they called it 'High Air Flow'
    XD

    this tests shows 2 things;
    run ur GPU.
38 = todays idle, and we dont care about idle temps

    todays 90c cpus would benefit

I will give it another go and do some more extensive tests with it.
Though my results genuinely have been identical so far.

    nice improvments!

keep in mind that all AIO Rads should be intake

I've got mine as exhaust; rad is mounted to the top of the case, and I also have 2 x 200mm fans above that which came with my case.
I can confirm my results are the same for both intake and exhaust... Though bear in mind I also have a 200mm fan on the side panel and at front for intake.

My results are much like the video LTT did a few years back:

  10. Further to the above, I would highly recommend anyone wanting to get the 12900k (even if it's just for gaming), to consider a 360mm radiator if planning to get an AIO.

I built mine originally with a 240mm, and whilst I had no issues per se, the temps would sometimes get higher than I'm comfortable with, without having to undervolt.
I had a custom fan curve and it would constantly switch between the faster and slower speeds as it heated and cooled respectively.

The radiator would get extremly hot and didn't feel it was getting rid of the heat fast enough.

I was idling at 36 degrees, but under gaming load it would be in the low to mid 70's and sometimes get into the 80's.
I remounted the cooler 3 times to make sure it was on properly and getting a good spread of thermal paste... My results were the same each time.

This week I changed it to the 360mm model.
I'm idling at 29 degrees and running the same games, it's gone no higher than 62 degrees so far.

I wasn't expecting it to make that much of a difference, but it really has.

Hopefully someone who has the same questions I had finds this and helps them in some way.

    Marhier!

  11. Hi everyone, hope you're all well; just a quick question...
I'm running an Asus Z690 Hero motherboard and using 2 x 16GB sticks of Dominator Platinum RAM (5,200MHz).

When enabling the XMP profiles, I can select XMP I or II and the RAM gets to the advertised speed no problem - nice and stable.
Should there be an XMP III there, or does the XMP I and II make use of the 3.0 capible RAM?

    Appreciate any advice.

    Thanks
    Marhier.

  12. I'm not sure if you can do that with RAID 0 if you've done it via your motherboard's BIOS.
You may be able to do this however with 'Storage Spaces' in Windows 10/11 via Partiy - I think it's called?

I could be very wrong here and someone else can advise.

Though surely with RAID 0, data is written across all drives... You remove one, you're going to lose that data?

  13. Just wondering what others have done for LGA 1700.

I've always done a line historically, but this chip is a lot bigger and thinking I may not get the coverage I need.

I've read that blob in the middle and dots in each corner is good for this?

Why a 11900K ? For gaming/VR you'd be better with even a 12400, and for the 11900k+mobo price you can get a 12600K+mobo (CPU is $100 cheaper mobo $100 more expensive.)...

And the CM Hyper 212 cooler will struggle to cool the K skews 250W burst...You need a beefier cooler for OCable Intel chips

I was just putting their build from their original post into PC Part Picker for them for pricing.
But 100%, would recommend a better cooler for that processor - I should have mentioned that and have updated the list accordingly.

In regards to chaging the CPU and motherboard, also a good options... Though going LGA 1700, they should be mindful that the cooler they buy may not come with the right mounting brackets etc.

I would suggest they look at some benchmark videos on YouTube for their use case to see if it'll give them the performance they want.

  15. I just put your spec in PC Park Picker, but added an RTX 3060 Ti and it came to under $2,000.00
Add a Quest 2 in there and you've got on, or just under your budget, providing you can get them parts at those prices.

    https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Marhier/saved/#view=RCmDjX

There's a bit you could do to save some money there though.
You could go for a Ryzen 5600X processor, which will take off about $100.00
You don't have to go for a 970 Evo for the NVMe.

This is based on that you can get the parts at the prices listed and if they're in stock.
I'm in the UK, so bit harder for me to say, but where I am, stock is showing in most retaliers now of all these parts.

So, i come from console, which means that i'm using the Playstation VR headset, hey, perhaps there are better options hm?

As for visuals, honestly just enough so i can see far ahead instead of seeing pixelated, jaggy stuff ahead to the point of being able to tell if it's a 100m marker or 500m marker (driving with myopia sucks).

You won't be able to use your PSVR headset on your PC I'm afraid mate.
Well, you might be able to, but I don't think it's officially supported; functionality will depend on third-party software, and I doubt there's any tracking support.
Also, the visuals in that thing are just terrible IMO.

I use the Quest 2... It's affordable, has a great, high res display and can run up to 120Hz.

If your budgets is $2,300, I would suggest using something like PC part Picker to do a build and see what the best prices you can get are for modern parts.

I personally would avoid the 1070 - in that range, the lowest I'd go is a 1080Ti.

  17. Very true.
I will report back once built and have done some tests.

I'm also hoping the air flow from the case will help; I've had this case for 9 years now and not wanted to change due to it's thermal performace.
