  1. I believe bit depth for gopro's is 8 or 10? Haven't a clue what subsampling is, i apologise. So after playing back the same files on unraid as my pc alone. It appears the problem is limited to unraid. My GPU is being used to decode and gets to no more than 40% usage. When watching on unraid it is, significantly long to load clips, considering im on a 2.5g link and these files aren't all that large. Here you can see a very good example of what im talking about.
  2. I wasn’t sure at the start which topic I was best putting this in, and it’s steering more to the pc side of things than unraid. The annoying thing is it’s very intermittent, and my patience doesn’t agree with sitting and waiting for it to do it again… the issue was caused when playing on a 55 inch 4k tv, I wondered if that would any any difference for performance? also, this was being streamed in windows 10 “photos” app. In hindsight I should’ve tried other options, but maybe this isn’t a smart option for HEVC playback. I’m not sure what app is best for this?
  3. It’s GoPro 5.3K/60 HEVC. I can’t say for definite as I’m not at my pc but GoPro bitrate graphs say bitrate is between 60 and 100… I did look for a indication on if it was mbps or MB/s and couldn’t find anything which is annoying. But either way, my connection is more than adequate…? my home pc is i9-10900k, rtx 2070 super., 32gb ram. So my assumption was this can’t be the issue, could there be something I don’t know?!
  4. Typical bitrate on footage max out at 100. My read speeds when I copied a video file off yesterday was 220 or so, and write speeds were at 280. Based on my motherboard on my pc having a 2.5gb lan connection directly to the server, this is the max I’ll achieve at the moment. the issue is purely when playing back in real time, no scrubbing. i have a ssd cache on the unraid and tried using that as a location to watch/edit from but it also had issues. yes i have moved it locally to try in the past, it was better but didn’t remove buffering completely.
  5. Hi, I have lots of 5k 60fps gopro footage stored on my unraid server. when watching it back on my pc I have trouble with it buffering, how can I go about finding a source to that is causing this issue? Thanks!!
  6. I made a Ubuntu VM for this purpose as its handy. How exactly would I make drives that are not mounted in unraid visible to a VM? I'm Clueless with VM's, never used them before. but thanks for your help!
  7. To be fair, I don't have any VM's but ill try this as it would be handy if it works.
  8. Yes I have a license, and that is through unassigned devices, still won’t let me mount them
  9. Hi, I put two old, unused drives back in my server out of curiosity to see if they hold data, and they are unmountable in unassigned drives. is there anything i can do to view contents before risking loosing potential data on these drives? http://olii.co.uk/i/7wu.png Thanks.
  10. Perfect! Thank you. Didnt have a clue about that!
  11. I recently after updating unraid tor the most recent version, have been receiving a ipmi error when my script has attempted to start the backup server. I have this script setup in user scripts: #!/bin/bash ipmitool -I lan -H 192.168.1.70 -U admin -P *PASSWORD* chassis power on which would usually power on the server. however this is what i am now getting.... /tmp/user.scripts/tmpScripts/Start Backup Server/script: line 2: ipmitool: command not found Any help greatly appreciated.
  12. I’m using all Seagate IronWolf PRO 4TB NAS drives.
  13. Hi, Just a quick enquiry. I had a drive fail on me, so I replaced it with a fresh one of the same size and started parity rebuild process. This is the first time doing this. It says an absurd amount of time to complete, is this normal? https://olii.co.uk/i/93v.png Thanks in advance.
  14. Hi, Today my Unraid has decided that the "Docker Service Failed to start". I have no idea where to start at fixing this problem, any help greatly apricated!!
  15. Hello, I have a i9 - 10900K paired with a MSI Z490 Unify motherboard, BIOS Version/Date: American Megatrends Inc. A.10, 20/05/2020 I believe there has been a bios update for my motherboard since the Bios update I have on it now. Is it necessary for me to upgrade the bios, or should it be ok as it is? Thanks.
