  1. Because that means a lot of people would break them or not have them cooled adequately, in fact if done well the IHS should help spread the heat allowing for better cooling. Finally it would also make them incompatible with most coolers.
  2. My guess is they'll just solder it like they used to do before ivy.
  3. For everyday use that doesn't really matter nand controllers are still the bottlenecks for random access and there is no mention how this will affect them. Longer lifetime and increased efficiency is always nice though .
  4. These are the ULV chips, you get the same if you buy an ultrabook and, honestly, if all you do is browsing and some office work they're excellent.
  5. From the name I thought it would dethrone my dear shine III, luckily it doesn't seem to... maybe they're skipping year of the horse because it's not as cool as snake or dragon?
  6. I think they mean the fan stops working like some high end PSUs, something you can't do on cards without custom firmware or coolers.
  7. I absolutely hate the Metro UI too, but I just don't use it, I guess for the people who don't bother/are afraid of setting things up (of which there are a lot) it's not really valid, as for me it's pretty much completely better. That said those same people probably wouldn't think of installing windows 7 or even asking someone to do it for them, they'd just use whatever the pc comes with, frequently without even knowing that they can have anything different or they just couldn't be bothered, which is why MS can do this, the people who hate these things and can afford to go with macs and those who can't make do with the problems but at least now the devices should cost less because MS will be selling windows for much cheaper to OEMs who do this.
  8. Awww, no Hayabusa engines and no VTEC! that's disappointing . I was almost imagining the pilot calling over the PA saying "Please fasten your seatbelts, VTEC just kicked in"
  9. They look nice and simple, awesome They will have some hard competition from the 200R on the larger models though so they'll probably need to undercut it by quite a bit..
  10. Overrated? probably not, expectations are too high though.
  11. I guess that's one way to teach your customers how to download new browsers, or at least how to switch default search engines. Why? I'm using Windows 8.1, admittedly it takes a bit more setting up but now it's like a more refined, modern and optimized version of Windows 7.
  12. One thing Samsung is definitely not lacking is display tech . Still 4K is a bit far fetched, I'm thinking 1080p probably, 1440p max
  13. Just wait for the Oculus rift to be released and they'll probably be there before you know it. It's definitely a good thing for oculus and VR adoption in general.
  14. I'm guessing it's more like the Sony headset for watching movies not an Oculus competitor but I wish I'm wrong.
  15. I wouldn't buy it because I don't see much sense in most smartwatches so far but that seems like a reasonable price, especially since it will probably cost the same number in dollars in the US. You can do much more expensive than Rolex, but that argument doesn't make sense unless you're saying they share the same target audience, which they obviously don't and if they did the moto 360 would fall flat on it's face like trying to sell a Chevy Volt to someone who owns a Ferrari.
  16. Uhmm that's what everybody does and it works... This seems to be an even higher end line than their ROG stuff, Z97 Strix anyone? with big owl eyes printed directly on the board and massive wings for heatsinks. (strix is the ancient greek word for owl btw) Children and people who think like children... that's quite large market if you ask me
  17. Sounds a bit fishy, especially for those prices, my guess is that functionality will be extremely limited and the smart functions won't be nearly as good as advertised, as for the lcd technology it's possible but I don't know how sunlight visibility is, which is sort of an important point with smartwatches. That said it's a cool looking watch, especially in matte black, if a bit too large. TBH this concept is something I have been waiting for, I don't really care about Moto 360 or any other smart watch so far, I want a smartwatch which looks like a nice actual watch which does not need to be charged every day or tapped/clicked just to read the time, but has a few minor smart functions, I'd rather pull out my phone if I want to browse or play games anyway.
  18. Why? Google may have a better services but from what I understand the others have monopolies over many area of the US (that's kind of unheard of in Europe) so they don't care, at least for several years, and even if Google decides to suddenly complete nationwide rollout, there will still be plenty of people who couldn't be bothered to switch all their services from one provider to the next. The fact that they can do this whole fast lane bs means that they're not exactly worried in the first place.
  19. Kinda sucks that they only made NF-S12B (the airflow optimized fan) only for the 120mm redux fans, that's probably the least favorite fan of most people, but I guess that's why they're allowing it to sell for less .
  20. If SATAe is at a higher price it wouldn't really make sense to use it considering most of them use the same Gen2 lanes so they have the same bandwidth and you can't use both interfaces at once.
  21. I don't know about you but I wouldn't want to have to route a massive SATAe cable over there, either way the difference in cost of using a proper SATAe connector is probably negligible.
  22. What's the point of upgrading for two consecutive cycles? There usually is no noticeable advantage at all.
  23. They do, although some of their mainstream boards have gone for a horrible, overdone bright yellow. check out the manufacturers' websites, almost all of them have put information about the boards up.
  24. And no SATA express... that could either be a strong disadvantage or something nobody cares about
