  1. Yeah peripheral connectors are pretty outdated, used to be you had to use them for everything, optical drives, hard disks, graphics cards, fans etc. Now you hardly ever use them unless you're running a fan controller a pump or feeding extra power to the motherboard if you're going crazy with multi GPU overclocking.
  2. I'm not sure if the white PCB would fit too well in black/grey build TBH.
  3. Oh god... I have the same PSU it seemed like a great deal but I hate those cables with a passion. Couple that with a CM 430 and you have a cable management nightmare, can't wait to upgrade both.
  4. Whoa I would have never expected a desk build from Scan, it looks really awesome even compared to most other desk builds .
  5. That looks really awesome, I love the black and white colour scheme and the cable management .
  6. Nice, well done with the black and blue colour scheme .
  7. Such an awesome idea, can't wait to see more .
  8. Eizo has announced a display which updates at 240Hz, the Duravision FDF2405W It doesn't actually accept 240Hz input, instead, it just converts 120Hz signals to 240Hz which should help reduce ghosting and blurring. They this "greatly improves sharpness and visibility and reduces eye fatigue that occurs when viewing scrolling or moving images." Unlike most other TN based 120Hz/144Hz monitors this is actually aimed at displaying satellite images rather than gaming, although the VA panel does make it an interesting proposition for gaming too. That said the price is expected to be high especially since it has special features for the application it's aimed for. The display also supports 10-bit colour over DisplayPort and 8-bit colour over DVI, viewing angles are at 176°, the resolution is 1080p with 23.5" diagonal. 9. He's hilarious, I think he could make a game about watching paint dry entertaining... not that State of Decay is much better...
  10. I voted no for most since: as much as I love the case, I'm slightly bored of seeing R4 builds (if you prefer that case go right ahead of course, same goes for the rest of the stuff) Dominator ram has both greys and blacks so it matches perfectly h100i and x60 are both good, x60 edges it out in performance but that probably doesn't matter much if you get new fans, the corsair would look much more appropriate in that case and it's definitely been tried and tested many times judging by how many people use them. As for motherboard, I voted for both because I'm really not sure, the Sabertooth would definitely fit and wouldn't require any minor modding but the MPower would probably look more unique and doesn't have brown slots/heatsinks and the matt PCB and wrap would probably make it match the rest of the theme much better. You might want to try making a mockup of the MPower before deciding.
  11. Looking really awesome really close to the final product too. Did you use a black replacement tube for the reservoir since it's not the same colour as the rest of the liquid.
  12. I kinda prefer the first one followed by the third one
  13. Cuddlesworth? A fan of Al Chestbreach by any chance?
  14. That is absolutely beautiful, I am so jealous ... I'm still using an especially crappy rubber dome keyboard . I might consider a Ducky zero or CM Storm keyboard later this year though.
  15. The specs are really not that impressive but I'm guessing this is not a flagship and I would never even consider it, but holy balls that's a huge battery!!
  16. I believe you're talking about the Z77 MPower which had pieces of metal glued onto the heatsinks, I believe the Z87 has the yellow painted right on the heatsinks.
  17. This question has been asked a million times so I'll just copy and paste my answer: Caselabs anything... if you can fill it up STH10 but for most systems, the Merlin (SM8) For a more "reasonably" priced case, Corsair 600D or Fractal R4 (kinda hate those massive handles on the side panel on the 600D and the plastic bits on the R4). That said every build has a different case that goes with it depending on budget, theme, where it's going to be placed, who's going to own it etc. so I don't really have any favourite case, but I usually like the simple elegant look so I chose these. I'm also starting to fall in love with the Lian Li external aesthetics, but the terrible cable management and naked metal internals are a deal breaker.
  18. I chose these for my brother's PC, I don't think you can get a better headset for the price although you could find some better headphones, it depends on how much you need that mic or whether or not you have another one. Ironically the previous version GameCom 367 was a little bit better in every way but slightly more expensive.
  19. Yeah, I believe Skylake is supposed to be the first consumer platform to support dual channel DDR4 according to Intel's roadmap.
  20. They're not stickers actually made of metal and glued onto the heatsinks, he's also talking about the Z87 version which doesn't have this.
  21. I'm guessing some of these chips will trickle down to consumer products?
  22. That looks amazing . If I am to nitpick I think the orange is not as strong as it should be to match the rest of the rig. Still, looking forward to see the finished product (even if the motherboard is dead ).
  23. The CODE mechanical keyboard was born when developer Jeff Atwood, dissatisfied with the current state of keyboard decided to take matter into his own hands and contacted WASD keyboards to come up with his vision of the perfect mechanical keyboard. He describes the result as the "only simple, clean, beautiful backlit mechanical keyboard [he has] ever found." The keyboard makes use of cherry MX clear switches, there fore it is tactile but not clicky with a customizable LED backlight, 6 key USB rollover, navigation keys that double as multimedia controls, a detachable micro USB cable and easily modifiable keys for custom layouts. The keyboard weighs 2.42 pounds and promises very high build quality with rubber coated feet and steel backplate. both 104-key and 87-key models retail for $149.99 Source: http://www.engadget.com/2013/08/30/code-keyboard/
