  1. This was actually the only thing that actually made a difference since i started my journey. Just did the clean boot and my scores at stock speed went from 1230-1280 to 1398, and also my idle temps decreased from around 45c to 37c. Still far from that first score of 1536, but at least i'm getting somewhere. Thanks.
  2. I managed to get the G. Skill stick up to 2667 with no effort, anything further than that and i had nothing but boot loops, probably gonna have to tweak voltages, timings to go beyond? But even at said speed my scores haven't changed much. Have tried installing all older versions of the BIOS and i was still around 1230-1280 on Cinebench at 3.0Ghz, still far from my first score of 1536 at stock speeds. I think probably the last thing left for me to do is reinstall the Windows.
  3. I'm thinking it could be related to the BIOS update as it all happened after that, but also after the first failed OC, so i can't be sure. I'm going to remove the stick clear cmos and do as you say.
  4. Cool n quiet should disabled right? I'm thinking it could be related to BIOS update wich was after the first Cinebench test. And the RAM was given to me as gift but they didn't know about the dual channel stuff, so i bought another one.
  5. Yeah i'll remove it, but my BIOS is up to date i think, it's the latest version available.
  6. Yes i did, i think it was v33 before i updated to v36, wich incidentally was after the first and better score at cinebench.
  7. Yeah maybe i exaggerated there. About the ram you're probably right, i'll remove it but i got better results with this same setup, just can't figure what messed it up. Also what do you mean by clean boot? Clear cmos and booting at stock? I tried that and it is still worse than my first benchmark test.
  8. I just figured it would be better than leaving a single channel ram, but i'll remove it. And i think Cool'n Quiet disables itself automatically when you mess with the clock speeds(?). I've been using HWinfo to monitoring, will do with CPU-z. If nothings else comes up i'll reinstall windows tomorrow.
  9. Yeah, after the first cmos clearing i went with stock settings and it was even worse, around 1200s on cinebench. I tried clearing it again a third time, but it persists.
  10. Hi, i'm looking for some advice here. System: Motherboard: MSI X370 SLI PLUS CPU: Ryzen 7 1700 (Stock cooler) Memory: 20 GB (G. Skill 16gb 3200mhz + Corsair 4gb 2133mhz) GPU: GTX 1060 6gb VBIOS: 7A33v36 OS: Windows 10 x64 (1511.10586)OC noob here. Just build my first system ever. That said, with everything at stock, fresh out of installation, i launched Cinebench test and scored 1536 with 3.0Ghz. Then i finally went to overclocking after watching some videos, reading a little bit, etc. In the first try i changed memory speed to 2400mhz and cpu to 3.5ghz the result was no booting, no bios, no nothing. No choice but to clear cmos, and so i did. After that everything seemed to go back to normal, and i proceeded to overclock, this time only the cpu. And i was able to go 3.5 without messing with the voltage. But unexpectedly my cinebench score was much lower. Now at 3.0Ghz i'm only able to reach 1406. At 3.7Ghz with 1.2375V (stressed in AIDA64 for 3h, 78C max temp), my best score is 1478. Now i'm aware this RAM situation is not the ideal and i have another identical G. Skill stick arriving sometime this week, but as i mentioned, i already had much better scores with the current temporary kit. As for general performance, i haven't had much time to test stuff yet (i plan on video editing, some 3d and gaming), so i can only speak for the last game i played on my previous cpu (i5-6500) - Deus Ex: Mankind divided - and that it is doing a little worse now fps wise. So anyone have any ideas as to what caused the performances to drop like this? Edit: I just remembered that i've only upgraded BIOS version after the first cmos clearing, wich was after the good (1536) Cinebench test. Could this be related? Edit2: Just cleared cmos again, removed the Corsair stick, and without any tweaking, full stock settings i did the test again. It is now even worse than before. (I accidentaly overwritten the 1536 cb test i mentioned before). I monitored 3 tests with CPU-Z and clock speed sustained 3198 speed all the time.
