Your cooler is rated at 180 but your motherboard will become the hot swirling lava of mount doom before your CPU will be able to use 180 watts.

Naruke Alpha reacted to Ostwind in What about this system? It will be ok?
If you're just gaming an i5 will be fine, you could have also just posted this on the other thread you made. You also don't need RAM that's faster than 1600Mhz as it makes no appreciable difference in games so unless it's the same price you should pass on the 1866Mhz stuff. You can put the extra budget from the i5 and the cheaper RAM towards a more powerful GPU.

Welcome to the dark side.
Regarding the audio issue, either look up the type of audio card in the laptop and consult the manufacturer's download section, or google for Linux drivers for that audio card.
Chances are someone already had that exact same issue and may have solved it.
As for "must have" programs, that really depends on your use.
If you're dualbooting, I'd suggest grub customizer.
That'll allow you to set up preferences for the dualboot, such as automatic OS selection (Windows, Linux, last used) or time to choose before it selects the default option.
Steam would also be an option if the laptop is powerful enough to game.
As for commands you really need to know, I barely use the Terminal but I do find it faster to update the system through the Terminal than through the GUI.

It looks like you have a loose connection. By laying it down the gravity will fix it for you. Check every socket and connector.
Your PC is ok, and will not diy soon I think.

Something could be loose causing it not to turn on when standing up.

So new signups for Vessel get a year free, but the existing users don't? I've seen this trick before.
If that's the case, then I already dislike this service.
EDIT: Support says existing users should get it too, but I haven't - not sure if it has affected other people.
EDIT2: All fixed. Now the player won't work on Firefox when HD is set to 'on' but it works in Chrome

Naruke Alpha reacted to beanie in How much can Lynda.com help me?
I've been considering the trail or the last 2 or 3 weeks now. There's a lot of topics I want to learn about, photography, advanced social network marketing, web design (i suck at code, so this will be a difficult one to teach me) advanced inDesign/photoshop/illustrator. I'm actually interested to see how in depth and how many fields they cover. There's a potential for it to be BETTER than you're typical diploma education. Most online courses which cost significantly more probably teach you the same fundamentals, so I wouldn't be surprised of Lynda.com is actually a huge cost reducer.
